The actress known as Savanna Samson once relished preparing for a role. “I couldn’t wait to get my next script,” she said.

There’s no reason to look at them anymore, she said, because her movies now call almost exclusively for action. Specifically, sex.

Well, Savanna should be careful about what she wishes for . . . she just might get it.

I'm currently dating the make-up artist who is working with the directors/producer team that creates many of the porn parodies we're seeing nowadays.

Granted, she has to be there all day, while Savanna doesn't, but last week she worked four consecutive days, getting to the set at 8 a.m. and leaving at 4 a.m. the next morning.

And she was joined by a large contingent of cranky actresses also.

Still, I welcome the effort as a consumer. Much more interesting to see the porn stars summoning their creative juices in the name of summoning those of their co-stars.

And that is exactly what I want. I could care less about the "acting" because they are not true actors or actresses, they are porn stars. They are paid to fuck on screen and that is it!

I’ve had some further thoughts about the overall issue after pondering it a while (slow afternoon :) ).  I was never a big fan of lame artificial dialogue in porn films, but it seems to me that too many current porn videos try to achieve the same length without a real script via staging excessive long position freak scenes.  Realistically sex, excluding foreplay that is almost always given short shrift, should not take 40 – 60 minutes.

I agree that the sex scenes today just last too long.  Back when XXX was shot on film and was very expensive, most sex scenes lasted 10 to 15 minutes.  That's enough... I don't care who the girl is or how hot she is, it just gets boring after a while.  I find myself hitting the skip button on the DVD player.

I agree. I watched a movie with Jesi St. James and she gets gangbanged and the scene lasts about 2 minutes. Most porn scenes today have become interchangeable and thus disposable. We've probably seen 1,000 (not 100, 1,000) doctor scenes, the pool guy, the office interview and so on. Ugh.

This thread reminds me of Boogie Nights when Burt Reynolds complains that the 80s and home video is killing porn.

There will always be segments of the market that prefer certain styles and i'm sure there are many who like the current endless sex scenes, but I always thought the goofy dialogue and story lines were amusing and created an interesting dynamic where the pitch of tension was heightened and released. Nowadays it's like they're caught in tantric hell and i do think it gets boring after awhile. And if all you're looking for is non-stop action there's always the reality porn sites that have minimal if any story lines.

I don't know whether this qualifies as a "reality porn site" but I've recently watched a few episodes from the BangBus series and I must say, they are very titillating to me. There is a long seduction of a girl walking down the street and it is generally played very well by the girl. You go in knowing that it's a set-up, but halfway through are tempted to suspend disbelief, so credible is the spontaneity of the dialogue.

And that's what I always loved about story porn: The shock that, yes, this girl who is demonstrating good acting chops, is shortly going to be letting the world see her get fucked.

That's where the eroticism has always lied for me. Everything else is just raunch, and raunch has its moments too.

there are *some* pornstars (Savanna chief among them) who fancy themselves "actresses" which is understandable given their personal rationale of the porn biz, but which of course is laughable to most industry outsiders

but in reality pornstars are "performers" (like athletes) and of course there's nothing wrong with that, as the best among them are truly admirable in their chosen "sport" (craft)


by analogy to the acting world, Meryl Streep, Laura Linney and Julianna Moore are actresses, whereas Jennifer Aniston, Sandra Bullock and Megan Fox are performers

so Megan Fox may complain about not being handed  better scripts with "meatier" roles, but of course no one takes her complaints seriously ... apparently not even the schlockmeister Michael Bey!

If only we could get someone like Michael Bay to write a flourishing epic, with the type of three syllable words uses in his films.  Where Savanna could really stretch her acting chops, maybe even use words like "consummate" or ""postulate" and attempt to emote while developing the complex layers of her character.

Nah.... just look hot and fuck.

who cares about story/dialog?  that's why i don't even watch wicked or vivid videos!  i prefer zero tolerance, evel angel, red light distrct etc the GONZO companies!!!!
