Bring back porn theaters. Make porn kitchy and trendy like burlesque has become with the likes of clubs that are in Vegas specializing in burlesque performances.

The music industry screwed themselves by not embracing technology in the mid-90s. As a result.. the value of their product went down. The porn industry (which pioneered online downloading and subscription models) is headed in the same direction.

Give us something worth buying or paying 20-40 bucks a month. Something we can't get somewhere else. I have so much porn now I could open up 20 websites lol.

I agree w/ Blck that the industry has to do a better job embracing the internet. Too many sites have the same themes, not enough "stars", too many lame scenes for too much $$. VHS is extinct, regular DVD is on it's way out and in 10 years I bet blu-ray will be obsolete.

As for the films themselves I think they have to come up with much better ideas/scenarios. Something that actually makes people WANT to watch, not just hit fast forward (which I'm not ignorant I know most people will do anyway  lol). I also agree w/ you Ed that the endings have to change. Far too many times you can tell the scene is cut cause some guy will be making his moans and stuff w/ the girl ready for it to come and it takes forever, the scene cuts, and finally after like 10 seconds he finishes.

Stop with the obligatory rotation of activities (not necessarily in this order, but always there): 5-15 min oral (man on woman), 5-15 min oral (woman on man), 5-15 min man standing woman on back sex, 5-15 min doggie, 5-15 min cowgirl, and then the inevitable man jerks himself off ending.

Bonus suggestion, maybe just applicable to me.  More variety in body types for the women, with a much heavier emphasis on facial beauty (as opposed to just big boobs).  Then I guess I’m a real minority.  When I see the selections for porn stars of the week, and also many queries about porn stars I’m am left with the distinct impression that a lot of guys get so mesmerized by big tits that they never look above the neck to see a face that is at best average.

Adult industry needs to create an association similar to the music industry's MPIAA where they can work together on a united front towards fighting against tube sites that broadcast all of their copyrighted material.  They also need to put pressure on the sites like Fleshlight and Adultfriend finder, Sex Search, Fling that advertise on those sites.  

This IS the solution. It'll only get worse until these actions are taken. The adult industry needs to be united on this or they will continue to reap what they sow through inaction.

I'm a fan a feature films from companies like Vivid and Wicked, mostly because of the production values... but it seems that the market disagrees with you and I... people want to see people fucking; plots, acting, etc. just seem to get in their way.  That's why porn dvd's are dying and the internet is taking over.  I don't like it, but that seems to be the reality of it.

What could you possibly do that's new???  The whole genre of gonzo... bukakke, gang bangs, double anal, double vaginal, creampies, choking and gagging vid's... they were all the response to the feature films.  Extremism was the answer to "show me something I can't get somewhere else".  In the long run I think it hurt porn.

I just don't know what you could do that could be all that new.  There-in lies the quandry.  the fact is that I'm pretty burned out on porn; ten years ago, a hot naked woman gave me wood; today I have to work to get a hard-on - I've just seen too much.  Now days, the girl has to appeal to me specifically, she has to have great makeup, she has to be dressed sexy and the sex has to be believably hot.  Then, I MIGHT be able to rub one out to it.

That may just be the problem.  Back when Sam Peckenpah first showed graphic violence in films, with blood spurting out of gunshot wounds, people reacting to the impact of the bullets, etc. it was shocking and compelling to watch.  Now movies like Saw and Hostel have dulled our senses to extreme violence; maybe it's the same with porn...

Its interesting .. years ago I brought my idea to the table and many years ago there were only your top agencies and performers and not such craziness as there is now.

When I talked with some of the top dogs they all said you cant do that! When in reality you can if you know the law, permits, and stick to what the people wnat. Its seemed simple enough.  Know... many years later it still has not been done.

Marylin Chambers, Betty Page John Holmes that was real porn when porn was porn. Like music, times change and if you cant change with it your left behind with all the 'gonzo' gangbang' pov etc.

Find a way to number DVD's, so when you buy one, you buy a chance at a weekend with a pornstar in Cancun.  Or some such.  

If the contests were real, and really gave me a REASONABLE shot (say one in every 1000 full price sales at $20) to be with Stoya or Jenna Haze or whoever is on the DVD, that would help prompt me to buy the DVD.  Odds should be better with third-tier girls.  

Or a girl could do it directly.  For instance, Debi Diamond could raffle off 24 hours with her in LA for every 500 DVD's sold directly by her at $20 a pop.

Some lawyer would have to figure out the legal nicities and tax ramifications.  Maybe you could characterize it as winning a chance to "star" in 24 documentary about meeting a porn star, ala' Shanes World, or some such.  

I don't know about you, but I'd spend $20 for a shot at Stoya.  Or Sasha Grey. Or my favorite Playmate.  Or my choice of any girl off Body Miracle....

Porn's biggest problem is the glut of material on the market. If I were the King of Porn, I would cut the amount of it being produced by 75 to 90% from all sources - gonzo, comps, features, niche, internet, dvds and mags. Everything cut across the board cut by at least 75%.

Supply and Demand. Right now the supply is so huge that demand is way down and margins are tiny. Cut the supply and demand will rise. Also those companies left will be able to make a decent profit on the product now that it's selling more than a few hundred copies. When margins are so razor thin, producers have to go for the lowest common denominator. With higher margins they can take a few chances now and then.

The problem:
1. Too much product driving prices down.
2. Free Compilation sites stealing and not paying for content.

What they have to do:

The porn producers have to get smart, sue the compilers left and right for copyright infringement or, as is happening now, see their profits and eventually their entire business deteriorate, over time.

Porn producers thought the internet would save them. Instead, it's what's driving them out of business.

With PornHub, it is hard to justify buying porn.

And amateur content is so much hotter than staged Chatsworth stuff, it is hard to see the porn business remaining on the scale it has been for the last decade....

Convince a "mainstream" director to produce, film, and direct a "real" film for real release for theatrical release. Not just something cranked out in an afternoon in the Valley, but a real film with limited roll-out. I don't know, just my two cents

In ten years, every television in America is going to be wired to instantaneous high speed content, with search functions that will allow you to watch every movie ever made.

The porn sources that can create crisp, digital images with hot scenes and find a way to charge for it at a reasonable rate will become millionaires.

They will be different guys than and Ed Powers.  

But there will be incredible content, for one main reason:  Being a porn star is now acceptable to a range of beautiful young girls the likes of which I could not even dream of back in the 70's.  Fasten your seat belts: there are a lot of hot rides coming round the next bend in the road....
