Porn Stars

My Thoughts...

I have gotten more familiar with the xxx biz over the past year or so.  A very good friend of mine now is actually an AVN nominated producer.  Here is what I think.  There's still money to be made in the business, but it's very obvious that the dawn of the tube sites has hit the industry hard.  Paid content gets uploaded to youporn/pornhub/xhamster and all of the other variants practically the day the scenes get released.  Not to mention torrenting...  Most people now think of the free content as the norm and that paying is out of the question.  The tube sites also don't take many steps to remove copyrighted content either.  It MIGHT get removed, but more often than not the user is "banned" only to return again down the road.

Those hit the hardest have been the smaller content producers.  It's hard to attract customers when free porn is so easily accessible.  Not to mention that they have even less resources to go after people pirating their content.  Meanwhile, a group called Manwin makes huge $$$ on the ad revenue driven from the free and often stolen content on their tube sites.

I wouldn't say all of the girls are broke, but if they want to live a lavish lifestyle then they will have to do more than just porn shoots.  Feature dancing, webcam shows, escorting, are the usual methods.  One of the UK pornstars/glamour girls that I promoted apparently made 40-50k during a 1 week escorting tour in New York.

don't know if you guys have been following Rob Black over the past couple of weeks but his radio shows have been fascinating. Rob "tells it like it is" with no bullshitting, pretending, or living in some fantasy world.

On his most recent show, Rob wondered if anyone in the porn biz gave a shit about filing taxes or paid them.“Most of us are struggling to pay our bills,” says Black. “99% of the business is completely fucking broke.”

Black said he had a meeting Saturday with a big female name in the business and was told he was telling people in the business things that were known but not discussed because no one wants to lose work.

Rob say's "The industry is fucking broke." He says that makeup artists, lighting, carpentry, transportation, food service, payroll processing, Web design and actors are all struggling severely.

Black says that there are some guys who’ll drive porn stars around for $25 blow jobs.

Black said he used to make millions back in the Nineties. He said "it was not unusual for a company to make $100,000 a month profit. We were Wall St. where everybody took care of each other. Old timers will tell you about the money we made.”

How things have change. No wonder so many porn girls are available for private shows. They are broke

shoots used to be lucrative..privates always will be..the money is there..they know where to find it..

I think what we might be seeing is the effects of too much porn. Like anything else, when it's so widely available it loses its power. And when it loses its power, it loses its market share.

It is a great time to be a hobbyist.  Many good women can be had.  In my experience money definitely talks- loudly.

I always wondered how anyone made any money with all the Tube sites out there.  I can't imagine paying for porn anymore.

Very true... I know a few Porn stars and they are struggling , like everyone else. And yes their rates have dropped alot.

so give us a couple names of some pornstars you think offer good value

Persia Pele, Diana Prince, GI GI Love, Kiera King, Jaylyn Rose, Payton Leigh. Sarah Jessie. Sheila Marie... Need I say more...

Adrianna Deville..best bargain around..full PSE..great price..she wants it that way..i wish more would follow her lead.. i know some who are 3 times the price and dont offer half of what she does..i rest my case..

I will have to agree to agree with that one!  Adriana rules!!!

They must not all be struggling since there are still a lot of them charging $1500/hr or more.  But when dumb guys keep paying, they will keep charging it.  We really can't blame them.

I wouldn't describe AD as a "great value" because  I don't want to imply there is any trade off between price and performance.  Her performance is outstanding.  Her price is reasonable to the point of ridiculous.  IMHO.

I also agree with what others have said.  It appears to me that there is so much free porn available that it is difficult to sell in such a marketplace.  I don't think its fair to the content providers but that is the way it is.

Hi - just catching up with this post after a few months....

I had an affair with a ps for about 6 months, which gave me a good insight into the industry from her perspective.  Admittedly she is one of the more business savvy girls going round.

Her "business model" was to do about 20 scenes per year to keep the catalogue fresh and attract subscribers to her website.  Keeping the scenes fresh also lead punters to her webcam site - which made a decent income every month.  Finally, she did escort work charging out about $1500 per hour - again on the back of keeping some scenes coming every year.  Usually her escort clients would book multiple hours or days at a time ( this is how we met).

The money she earned from the scene themselves was about $1500-$2000.  Across a year not much but she used that to cover her over head costs such as accommodation and other expenses while being in LA to do the scenes and then to pay for the agents, web masters, and escort agencies for the other income.

Over the course of a year, she would gross about $200k.  Her final objective was to get about 100 scenes and then "retire" from that and hope to have that catalogue keep the webcam, website and escort work going.

I spent some time with another high profile PSE who had the same approach.

I guess like any industry, those that can work out how to "position" themselves and use the porn scenes to push clients into the other aspects of the industry (webcams and escort etc) will make a decent living for awhile.

For both of these ladies, there biggest fear was understandably getting older and how to out compete all of the new talent coming.  For one of them, getting a massive breast enhancement and doing some harder scenes was a way to keep ahead of the competition - at least for the time being.

Being in business myself, I was really impressed by the acumen some of these ladies have

I know that the handful girls that I know of that were stars in the 90s and early 2000 are constantly crying the financial means to me and hit me up for money there was a time that I did try to help. I learned my lesson one thing I have discovered about girls the porn industry they lived in a moment spend every cent ever made and hope like hell that some sucker who either got off whacking off to the videos or with the occasional client in the past will still feel sorry for them enough that they will supply them with enough money to see the end of the week.

Let's face it the Internet killed porn Star Valley just like video killed the radio Star! :-)

Internet porn tubesites have definitely affected the indutry the last few years but its amazing how many "up and coming" girls are around the industry. Its almost theyre maybe an "oversaturation" or too many of them and like Rob said, many of the girls are struggling to pay bills, and because of that some of those "up and comers" end up being "one and done" or "flash in the pan" ones and leave the industry almost as quickly as they started.
