How exactly does being married to a porn star affect his job and performance adversely? Sounds like a mayor who's grand standing to make himself appear more important than he is over a non-issue.

Their is a subculture that accepts porn and respects the ladies that participate in it. But being in porn or associated in porn is not socially accepted in mainstream Amercia.

If you think it is, then try this:

-Bring a porn start to your next Christmas party, let everyone know what she does, especially your boss and see how far your career goes

- Show up at the kids soccer game in some neighborhoods (not all) with your porn star wife and see the reaction. There is a good chance your kids will be looking for some new friends

- Imagine this your son is at a frat party and the film of the nite is featuring his mom. Then mom shows up for parents weekend - I'm sure that is just going to be a very natural situation

I know of a lady who did not even attend her daughter's high school graduation because the neighborhood found out she did porn and the reaction to her made her feel embarrased.

There are sacrifice the ladies make when chosing this profession. Some of them are probably not fair, but when anyone goes against social norms crazy things can happen

Interesting, a couple of days ago there was a thread on the Boston board about this and it was removed shortly afterward since the article discloses her real name.

Regardless of the non-acceptable you brought up, he shouldn't have gotten fired. If I am in his position, I would sue the shit out of the city.

In nearly all jurisdictions porn is still considered prostitution and solicitation and procurement laws will be applied and enforced.  If it can somehow be proved money changed hands racketeering charges also fall into the mix.

Is it possible that they are using the porn excuse because someone found out that she was also an escort? She was escorting in the Boston area for roomservice girls under the name Erica I believe.

All of her reviews were recently taken down and her pics off the website. Obviously now we know she retired because she got married. Does not matter what the reason he should have not been fired under the reason that his wife did porn.

After reading the article it appears that if she got married last October and she was still escorting up until recently. Maybe that violates the contract he had as far as profiting from breaking the law or something like that? I am not defending it by any means so don't kill me guys lol.

I still believe it had nothing to do with the porn, but more to do with the escorting (especially doing something that is technically illegal and while being married). Politics are a dirty sport and it wouldn't surprise me if someone there found out and made a big stink out of it for personal gain or revenge. Even worse it could lead to blackmail or something.

I am really surprised that the husband was willing to be public about this. He had to know what his wife was doing on the side, or maybe he doesn't know oops.

It would have been too much of a distraction and nobody would have taken him seriously..

Why do you think people who are involved in porn give fake names? Because they do not want the distraction and the harrassment from the public..

They should've waited to see what the result would've been before doing anything about it. Perhaps it wouldn't have been a big deal. Who would've really cared? No one knows--right? no one--the ramifications. What sort of harm would it do to the city? Seems more likely that there would be some sort of reaction to him personally, but what, and how serious?

Given the increasing prevalence of porn, it can't stay as hidden as it did in the pre-internet days, nor as small. More people doing it means more of an erosion of the anonymity barrier and need for society to adjust to the reality.
