Sorry Jim,
I couldn't resist that one
I'm still seeing some signs of reformation on your part!!
Your friend,
Sly
When you first join the TER community, your posts are automatically moderated and are not posted until they have been reviewed and approved by a moderator. If you are new here, you may not be aware that there are members who's messages are posted immediately to the board without the need for prior review.
Being able to post unmoderated messages is a PRIVILEGE granted when you have shown that your posts follow the guidelines spelled out by TER and generally make a positive contribution to the forum.
However, YOU have the ability to speed up the process of becoming unmoderated. The more you post, the quicker the moderator(s) will get to know you and get a sense of whether you're going to stay on-track. Posting reviews is another indication of participation and comittment to the group. So the more you post reviews and messages, the quicker you'll join the ranks of unmoderated members.
Two things to keep in mind... unmoderation is a privilege that can be revoked. Keep things civil. The other thing to keep in mind is that the moderator of the board you participate in most is the one who controls whether you're moderated or not, so if you post mostly on your regional board and only occasionally here on the pornstar board, Sly and I defer to the regional moderator when it comes to posting status.
If you get moderated on this board, you are moderated on all the other boards as well, so you might want to keep that in mind when you are tempted to make a foolish post, take that bit of advice from one who has been there many times.

(This reply was written for Sly's post last night but still applies to Fasteddie's)
First, the moderated post rule creates two classes of VIPs, the Privileged and the Unprivileged, and with it comes discrimination. The rule tells Newbies that they are second class and do not have a brain trained for timely posting.
Second, how many Newbies do not participate on the Boards because of untimely posting? I believe many. Therein lies the rule’s Catch 22. You can’t become privileged unless you endure untimely posts for a vague period of time and for subjective criteria as to content.
I believe the current moderated post rule kills the spirit of Newbies and eventually their membership. We at TER lose a wealth of fresh new ideas, insight and reviews.
I suggest a reverse of the policy: VIPs post unmoderated until they prove they have to be moderated or suspended.
Respectfully,
BBB
I hear where you're coming from, as even I have been on moderation in the past. As moderators, Ed and I really have no power regarding policy like that. Remember, we are unpaid volunteers. I have made Staff aware of your post, so hopefully they'll respond with their reasoning.
I'm sure you've all noticed that messages are getting approved a lot quicker than in the past. Besides having 2 moderators to go through the many messages, Ed and I are focused on putting them through as quickly as possible. FYI, very FEW messages don't get posted, and if you read them, you'd immediately see why they weren't. Unfortunately, there are a few immature lurkers on this board ![]()
Best to all,
Sly
We have tried this in the past. Boards such as the ISO were unmoderated. They became forums for people to post things they new were not cool. We would delete them and ban the account. They would create a new account (which was unmoderated in that forum) and continue where they left off.
It is a shame that because of a few jerks I have to put this restriction on everyone.
Why specifically should anybody care if their posts are being moderated?
Sorry, I don't get it. Unless, you are saying that some people (i.e. the "unmoderated" ones) can say anything they want and other people (the "moderated" ones) simply get their posts rejected or blocked, why would I care if a moderator reads my post before it gets placed on the board? If you are NOT saying that once you become unmoderated your posts cannot still be edited if they are found to be offensive, what is the benefit of being unmoderated?
What is the positive aspect of getting to post "unmoderated"? What is the negative aspect of getting your posts "moderated"?
I suppose there is something I'm missing here, but it just seems like some artificial ego thing to me.
Because in the past it could take up to two days for your post to be posted if you were on moderation and if you wanted to participate in a particular thread, its nice to have your thoughts posted in a timely manner.

Moderation just means that your messages are reviewed by the TER moderators before they get posted. On this Pornstar Board, that means either me or fasteddie review it. If it meets the TER posting guidelines, it gets posted. If not, it sits in suspension. If it's something minor/innocent, we may edit it or PM you to let you know what the problem was. In the past, there have been times when messages have sat for a day or two before being posted. Ed and I are doing our best to post messages as soon as possible. Having 2 moderators helps a lot, as it's not likely that both of us will simultaneously be away from our computers for a long period of time.
For those not on moderation, their messages get posted immediately. However, that does not give them impunity. If their messages do not follow TER guidelines, the message will be put into suspension. If it's deemed not to be an innocent mistake or if it becomes a repetitive issue for that member, the person may be subject to being put back onto moderation.
I hope that clears things up a bit.
Sly
Unfortunately it looks like your attempt to purchase VIP membership has failed due to your card being declined. Good news is that we have several other payment options that you could try.
We thank you for your purchase!
Membership should be activated shortly. You'll receive notification!
