Well, another Exxxotica came upon us again this year in South Florida. You definitely feel the effects of today’s economy on the convention. The convention floor was significantly smaller scale than previous years. In the past it would have taken forever to walk the whole convention floor. Now you can walk the whole place in much less time. Many porn stars returned (Sunny Lane, Ron Jeremy, Sunny Leone, etc), some of the old-school legends came (Nina Hartley, Ginger Lynn, Shayla Laveaux). And some New Faces and companies were there (Natasha Marley with the Bluebird Films booth).
I was hoping to have some PSE experiences during the convention, as there were many who were “listed” as being available. However, with their convention duties/committments, and the afterparty appearances they make afterwards in the various clubs in the wee hours, unless they are staying a few days before the convention or a few days after the convention, it can be quite challenging to arrange anything with a PSE.
One good thing about these conventions is that you can meet the lady in person and get a feel for her to see if you really want to arrange a private appointment with her. There were a few ladies I had an interest in prior to the convention, however, when I met certain ones up close in person, I had a change of heart.
One last point in my ramble is that I understand the need for good security, as all of these events are well secured. I just found it ironic that when you go to the Vivid Section with WELL KNOWN pornstars or the LEGENDS booth with the easily recognizable porn legends, these ladies openly interacted with the fans and it was great. You did not see them smothered by bodyguards and security. However, at the Bluebird Films Booth, which had 3 young porn newbies (Madelyn Marie, Natashe Marley, and Anna Lovato), 3 ladies relatively newer in the biz, none over the age of 25, who would NOT be recognizable on the street, they had these HUGE Cro-Magnon-lookin Body guards hovering over the girls at all times. That was a MAJOR turn-off. They even had Cro-Magnon Inc. walk them to the bar to get a drink. Whereas all the others who are more popular freely walked around and got drinks at the bar without security, and did not have fans hovering over them. I just thought that was kinda weird. Just my observation.
Anyway, you will find these conventions getting smaller and smaller as the economy shrinks and these companies are making less money. I see that there is going to be an Exxxotica in LA in July…It will be interesting to see how that turns out.
I'm hoping the one here in NJ in Nov. is as good as last year, and I'm hoping Nina Hartley shows up for it. She's one of my fantasy ladies from the 80s that I haven't met yet.
I've found that you can arrange time with the ladies at the convention if there is a hotel nearby and they get "breaks". Last year's Exxxotica in NJ had many pornstars missing during the day for hours... and I suspect quite a few of them were with clients. But, yes, it can be difficult to arrange something during a convention.
As for the bodyguards... I've noticed that it's usually the newer girls to the industry who have the big Cro-Magnon bodyguards. Many of the other ladies have escorts/guards too but they're not quite as noticeable. I think the newer girls who haven't been to one of these conventions are afraid of all us perverts and don't want guys playing grab-ass with them when they go to the bathroom or go to the bar for a drink. Not that any of us would...
But, it's really no different than any other convention. I've seen Cro-Magnon guards at conventions like Chiller that have tv&movie stars. I call it Paparazzi Paranoia.

I have to agree with your assessment of Exxxotica. This was my first Exxxotica convention and I was less than impressed. I was at the convention Saturday and today and feel like I got totally ripped off today. Hardly any stars there and nobody new, I guess they were all hung over from parties on Saturday night. The only group that seemed to be representing well was the legends. Several girls being advertised were not there. I never saw Carmen Valentine, Breanne Benson, Tyler Faith, Christy Canyon, Flower Tucci, Bree Olson or Taylor Wane. Unless these ladies were there Friday I don’t think they were at the show. They didn’t begin to have enough stars at the show.
Just like DK I was hoping to maybe set up a private with one of the ladies but found that a couple of the ladies didn’t have time. There were several ladies that my interest in them dropped after meeting them in person either due to looks or personality. Likewise there were a couple of ladies that really peaked my interest and now are high on my radar.
Interestingly the hottest girls there were from England with bluebird films. Anna Lovato and Natasha Marley. These girls are stunning blondes and extremely friendly to boot. The bodyguards were annoying but I just ignored them and got to spend quite a few minutes talking to the ladies. Guys check these girls out. The bad news is they are primarily based in England and only come to the states every now and then. Such a shame we need to revoke their passports and keep them in the states.
Shyla stylez was also there and looking smoking hot. She was one of the ladies my interest declined dramatically because of her personality. Physically hot as they come but personality about as crazy as they come too. All the signs of a major drama queen.
I also did the vip ticket which was a total waste. No need to get a vip ticket. It was a separate area with a bar and several couches and strippers dancing in a couple of cages. I don’t think I spent more than 10 minutes in the room. Oh well lesson learned.
It’s kind of sad to say the best moments of the show came from the girls from England. I guess that just sums up the sad state of porn these days.
Many of the observations already made were true. Smaller show, smaller crowds, and several no shows. I think the no show factor is always a component of every show and was only magnified by the smaller size of this event.
On the positive side, for those in attendance it was easier to have access to big names that you could not have at a show like Vegas. At various intervals I was able to walk right up to and talk to for several minutes the following: Jesse Jane (probably the biggest star currently), Tori Black (performer of the year), Kagney Linn Karter (best new starlet), Vivid girls Monique Alexander, Sunny Leone, Savanna Samson, legends like Lisa Ann, Jill Kelly, and Shayla Laveaux, and new talents like Amia Miley, Breanne Benson, Amy Brooke, and Lupe Fuentes.
So that's the positive side of the show. The smaller it gets does allow for more intimate conversation and less of the rushed interaction of a larger show.
Granted, the problems with the industry need to be addressed and I'd prefer to see the adult industry booming again. But we can at least look for the silver lining.
