Christmas at Arlington Cemetery

Got this in an email and wanted to share it...

Readers may be interested to know that these wreaths -- some 5,000 -- are donated by the Worcester Wreath Co. of Harrington,Maine.. The owner, Merrill Worcester, not only provides the wreaths, but covers the trucking expense as well. He's done this since 1992. A wonderful guy. Also, most years, groups of Maine school kids combine an educational trip to DC with this event to help out. Making this even more remarkable is the fact that Harrington is in one the poorest parts of the state.

Rest easy, sleep well my brothers.
Know the line has held, your job is done.
Rest easy, sleep well.
Others have taken up where you fell, the line has held..
Peace, peace, and farewell...

What a stirring image.  Gives us all a simple yet enduring reminder that "freedom isn't free".

They deserve the best that we can give them; they made the highest sacrifice for the rest of us.

Arlington is impressive, but there is nothing that will make you more proud to be an American then Normandy.  One of the most amazing experiences of my life, and I've been twice.

Whenever I am in DC, I try and visit a high school friend on the Vietnam Memorial.  I stand there and look at his name and most times tears fill my eyes.  He died; I did not.

Wow, I am not usually emotional but looking at that photo made me choke up and shed a few tears. So many have died defending our country, we owe them so much.
