After reading Eddie's post and talking to some well known porn ladies in the past about this..I have figured out what these porn ladies need to do to make money..
Let me start off and say porn is a 9 billion dollar industry..that's right 9 billion dollars and the ladies probably get about less than 1% of that..In my opinion this is what the ladies need to do
1) Form a Union and have somebody fight for them because something is wrong when you see AVN award winners who cannot afford to pay their own rent..
2) Instead of telling a Production Company "I charge $1,000 per scene"..tell them "I will do it for free but I want 50% of the residuals and have first right of refusal on what site you put my scene on"..Heck this is similar to what John Travolta did for 'Saturday Night Fever'..they offered him 100K and he turned it down and said "Just give me the a percentage of the movie gate and a percentage of the future sales'..So he ended up making over 20 million dollars..Not bad for doing a movie for free!
3) Have your own paid website that way you own all of your scenes..Yes it will be a lot of work but if you have at least 15 scenes and add something each week and more important be as nasty as you can be..It will track new members as well as keep them..I know one average looking lady with a huge butt making 20K a month on her site..
4) Do more than just sex for money..For example try and get other girls under you and start getting them work and charge a commission..Look at Lisa Ann, Raquel Devine, Shye Love and other girls..Remember age is a cruel thing in this business so start having a plan because every decade you turn (ie 30, 40, etc) the less people that are going to watch..Agencies always laugh when I call (because I love older women) and they say "Hey Danny my mom may be available" LOL..Most guys look for that 20 something year old..
The sad thing is I have seen a lot of women make the worst decisions possible financially in this business..For example I know one porn lady who traveled from the midwest to CA for 9 days to do some porn work..After all of her expenses (hotel, rental car, food,etc) she netted $2,000..So a friend of mine told me "Hey tell your friend I will fly her to NYC for an overnight and I will cover her airfare and lodging and give her $1,500"..I relayed that to the girl and she declined..I was thinking "Why would you turn down a 24 hours for $1,500 but spend 9 days to make $2,000?" And it is not like she doesn't escort because she does!

Because people are willing to pay it. The concept of paying $1,500 per hour has been accepted by "consumers" in the US and so viewed as standard.
In Europe, for example, $1,500/hr is viewed as far-fetched and that is why they same providers and agencies charge a lower rate when they are, say, in London.
At the end of the day this is a question of demand-supply and price elasticity.
I was expecting a humorous post, but you seem to be making a good faith effort help porn stars to make more money.
I wish you had gone for humor because none of your suggestion will bring benefits to the majority of porn stars.

LOL. I don't understand the need here. I see girls post here talking about how great the industry is doing and how they are in constant demand. I mean heck you ask these ladies and they will tell you business is booming. That is why they can charge $1500 an hour and get it. 1. With so many girls ready, willing and able these days to do adult films, and so many girls leaving the business after only doing a couple of scenes, it would be next to impossible to unionize.
2. Same as above... companies are hurting as it is... they're not going to cut a girl in for a piece of the action on their already diminished profits, unless they feel that her cut would be below the rate they would usually pay them, and if that's the case it's already too late to save the company. Girls are doing porn for pennies on the dollar these days. What they used to get $1500 for a couple of years ago they're being offered $800, $600, or even less, and many of them are taking it.

4. Good idea, but lots of girls are doing it now. For legitimate work, it's hard to go up against the big boys like L.A. Direct, Goldstar Modeling, and the other dozen or so talent agencies, and lots of girls are booking themselves now to save the commission.
For every Lorsha who is not making what they want to make there is somebody else making 20K per month..Again I did not say it was easy but with hard work and creativity it can be done..
Again I know average Joe Shmo's and Sally's making serious money on their websites..Now they are working at it 30 to 40 hours a week on their websites and not doing privates nor are they giving their scenes to some company..

The barriers to entry in the porn biz is low I imagine. If you're a reasonably hot babe and willing you're in.
Mainstream actors are in movies once or twice a year (for example). So seeing a movie star is itself a mini-event. If you watch the same porn chick a hundred times at some point you're going to have to make room for the next new one, and the one after that. How does the actress keep her "stickiness" in the web world and still compete against all the new talent out there?

Unfortunately its like beating a dead horse. Most of these girls never see the big picture, and never listen. I can remember I tried to cast a well known MILF for a scene, and she was nit picking about getting her $1000 rate, claiming I was making out like a bandit! I guess she forgot about all the companies that paid her rate ONE TIME, but yet they make millions after you get that $1000 pittance once! Purely unbelievable, sometimes whoredom, and common sense never go hand in hand. I also agree with you about the union as well, however too many people in this industry are only concerned about watching out for themselves, and would never band together to support it, with the fear of getting blacklisted or another selfish reason.
Lots of girls refuse to lower rates to be competitive in the market. I mean $1000 per hour is great, but whats better making $1000 3x per week, or getting at least 1 booking per day @ $500 for a whole week on a consistent basis?? They will never get it man, many missed Economics 101, supply vs. demand!
