Mission Impossible was one of my favorite shows, and to tell the truth, was much better than the movies.
First of all, publicly releasing a porn film without a signed model release form has NOTHING to do with 2257. 2257, or more accurately U.S. Code Title 18; 2257 refers to the producer of the film being required to keep records including real names, stage names and verifiable (Social Security number and a goverment issued photo I.D. such as a driver's license or passport) proof that all performers were 18 or older at the time of the shoot at a POSTED address and available during business hours to be inspected by government officials. 2257 has NOTHING to do with model release forms.
Secondly, your statement that is illegal and impossible is also wrong... Yes, it is illegal, but it's certainly not IMPOSSIBLE. There are many examples of celebrity sex tapes being released without model releases... Pam Anderson, Joey Buttafuco, Vince Neil, Colin Farrell... the list goes on. (And incidentally, obviously there were no 2257 documents to go with them, so even THAT didn't prevent them from being released).
Finally, and this is something many if not most people don't realize... The ONLY state where it is legal to produce pornographic material is California. Some years ago an adult production company was busted during a shoot and the people were charged with prostitution and pandering. They took it to court and won, establishing a precedent in California, making it legal. That is the ONLY state that has set a precedent. Not Nevada, not Florida... only California.
Obviously porn is being shot outside of CA, but all that means is that the States haven't bothered to go after the producers, directors and talent, it doesn't mean that it's legal, and it doesn't mean that a State won't choose to prosecute it in the future.

USC 2257 has NOTHING to do with model releases, pure and simple. The ONLY thing it has to do with is proof of age and having those documents available for inspection by a government official.
Having 2257 documentation means that you can publish a movie publicly without fear of prosecution. To do so without 2257 documentation is a criminal act and a federal crime.
On the other hand, publishing a movie without a model release is not subject to prosecution, it's only open to CIVIL action. With proper 2257 compliance, even without a model release you don't have to worry about anyone knocking at your door with an arrest warrant; on the other hand, without a model release you DO have to worry about the offended party suing you in civil court.
The Court struck down 2257 in 2007. it is no longer a concern. But Eddie is absolutely correct about 2257 and model releases being completely different and unrelated animals. In the end, its always possible for the film to be released and then you have to sue or seek an injunction. Lawyers are not cheap. And if she told you she would never show it to anyone, remember the golden rule, Whores Lie!

I'm not sure what all the fuss is about with this post. All I know is that I responded to Danny's original post on this board regarding this service and I contacted his guy.
