i have not been on this board in awhile and perhaps this subject has already been covered, but I'm wondering if the ladies are having trouble finding work. On another board I counted 18 porn stars advertising in LA, all in the last 2-3 days, all for deep bargain rates compared to some of the PS rates I see on TER. Lets just say, nowhere close to $500/hr.
Yes, I think I know of some of of the lower rate ones that you are referring to. And that is all good and they seem like they are very nice women, but I don't think any of them are of the "star" names that are still asking for over $1,000. I see that they have done some porn, but for the most part they are all women that I've never heard of before.

What business is "not" slow these days, is the answer. The majority of the women in porn the past several years are "content" girls, that do not make a lot of money shooting porn, even when times were better. A lot of people have the misperception that if you do porn you make a lot of money. Could not be further from the truth. There are very few people that make an actual living from porn. Most just supplement their income with it.

My bet is that even the top girls will be down to like $500 an hour tops in like 12 months. We are at the start of a worldwide global depression unlike we have ever seen. Prepare yourself now because people really do not yet comprehend how bad things will be soon. This is not a simple recession, and what the gov't is doing will not fix it.
Sorry to be the grim reaper and to depress people, but get prepared now and conserve cash.

Again, this is another big misconception. It is a billion dollar plus industry, yes. But ... 10% of the players make 90% of the money. That leaves the other 90% to go after that 10%. So when things slow down they are the ones who suffer, since they are not making much anyway.
Over the years I have gone out of my way to convince ladies to STOP being content girls, but they do it anyway. Content girls for dvds/videos/clips make a tiny fraction of what they could make if they kept themselves exclusive and had their own sites.

Today porn companies get tired(as well as the public) of ladies real easily so they have to get a new girl..the ladies start off making a lot of money and than all of a sudden the calls stop...Than they look for a new agent to book them and that keeps going in a cycle..
As for them doing privates..Yes the country (especially Las Vegas, LA, and Phoenix) are in a depression and guys that were paying lK per hour are just about gone..I hear stories every week of porn ladies getting ready to tour and than you follow up and they are either honest and say 'Sorry I could not get enough bookings'..Or they lie and say "I am not feeling well".
Rule of thumb "When the housing market goes down the play money for sex goes with it"..

By contrast, both January and February saw record movie ticket sales. And a couple of my regulars who charge in the range of 200 to 350 tell me they are busier than ever. People are going for comfort food in all areas of their life. McDonalds. Movies. Moderately priced pussy.
They are not spending on luxury cars, luxury vacations, or luxury pussy.
The porn starlets who are hitting the 300 price point in LA are having their phones RING OFF THE HOOK. And the two I spoke to who joined national agencies and are booking through the midwest at rates only slightly above that rate are -- literally -- sore from all the bookings the agencies are getting them on the road.
Ladies charging a high amount ($500+)per hour and than complain that business is slow..I politely ask them "Well why don't you lower your rate to around $300-400 to get more appointments"..I usually get the response "I don't want that kind of person walking in my place"..
I am thinking in this economy $300-$400 is a lot of money!

Maybe it's a matter of pride that keeps them from lowering their price, which is analogous to free agent athletes holding out for contracts that pay them what the athletes think they are worth compared to their peers.

Again, I beg to differ in the highest regard. Girls can stay busy all they want at 200/hr, but the smart girls who conserve and save their cash and actually do something with their money know that the girls charging 200/300hr still have to work 5 to 7 times more than the girls charging 1500/hr's 1 time. Lets break that down into some figures
200/hr x 10 jobs a week = 2000/wk = Thats 520 jobs a year to make 104k yearly
For a girl who charges 1500/hr she would only have to work roughly 70 times a year to make that same money. that's less than 1 1/2 jobs a week in comparison to 10 jobs a week as stated above. My puss puss will thank me in the long run.
Lets also factor in the time a Porn Star would have to take away from Website work, Shooting, appearances, feature dancing, etc. So for top porn stars, they understand the business side.
I'm watching some of the clip sites more often than I used to, don't even buy DVD's. I'm liking amateur stuff more and more.
Dream Kelly, a beautiful former web girl, is now providing, and I'm guessing she's doing well. Started out as a non-nude model and we've watched her go all the way into providing. I think she has the right marketing strategy. Build a fan base on suggestive sex and then go into providing, skipping mainstream porn altogether.

I have no problem finding any work, no matter what city I am in. Also, shooting hasn't slowed down either for me. I am always fully booked on my trips to LA to shoot. Also, my website sales are the best they have ever been.
Granted the economy is in a bad recession, but that doesn't mean EVERYONE is going broke. Rates are only outrageous to the people that are saying they are outrageous. I have yet to have to lower my rate on any tour I have been on, along with numerous of my girl friends. I have had to turn down several jobs on tour this year.
Every girl has a different clientel and everyone girl has a different standard of what they need, same goes with the hobbyist.
Also, I could make 1 hell of a living shooting in LA by itsself, I choose to supplement, not because I have to, only because I would be limiting my self if I didn't. And know plenty of girls shooting 10-15 scenes a month.
Also, there's a big difference in Porn Stars who are providing and Girl who shoots porn that are providing.
