Just wondering how the porn shutdown would affect the porn provider community. More ladies available? UTRs coming to the surface, out & open? Ladies that have NEVER provided becoming UTR?

Any thoughts?

I think it's a very interesting question. This is not a question you asked but I have a feeling that girls who have been in the industry and made a lot of money will unceremoniously retire, many will probably return at some point. I think the majority of women will much more stringent when selecting the male talent they are willing to work with. Any male performer who has done anything other than boy/girl will no longer work with the girls who have name power. I think you will see less girls getting into porn than before. Now to answer your question, I think it will depend greatly on the enforcement of Measure B. If measure B is enforced and the women feel safe from HIV while performing on set you probably won't see much change. If porn continues without condoms than I think more women who currently shoot porn will be available than ever before. These women are used to a certain amount of money coming in any reduction in shooting porn will also mean a change in lifestyle. I can't imagine they will want to have unprotected sex as they did in the past. I have a feeling most will not want to have a reduction in income or a change in lifestyle. I think in order to maintain the standard of living these women have become accustomed to you will see most girls doing much more stripping and escorting. I think most girls will do what is neccesary to continue to making the same amount of money (or much more through escorting). I could easily see many leaving the industry all together. At least for awhile. I don't think girls who are UTR will suddenly advertise out in the open. Just my opinion
In my opinion, not much will change in the long term...Measure B will play out in the courts probably well into 2014....PROP 8 was on the ballot in the NOV 2008 election, and the Supreme Court rendered its decision in June 2013..Anything going thru the courts takes considerable time..(i don't think Measure B ever gets to the SCOTUS, though..I think only about 2-3 percent of cases ever reach the Supreme Court, they turn down the vast majority of petitions they receive)..
As for privates, i don't think anything changes there either...If a girl will want a 2-3 day test in future appts, so be it...I know w/the appts im booking testing is essential and i'll do what is asked..
girls that might have pooh-poohed the idea of seeing fans on a private basis might well now see the hobby as their last resort. I would also assume that this might cause a bit of a price war because there's going to be so many more girls providing it will be the classic case of supply and demand! Girls that might've previously just dabbled in the hobby may now become more active. You may see a lot more MILFs getting involved than was previously the case.
These are my opinion only, but I sincerely believe that this has been the case in the past and back in the early 90s the industry was paying more to the girls for their scenes than they do today the proliferation of Internet websites has also taken its toll on the industry. So let's wait and see but I have a sneaking suspicion that prices will be going down and the number of girls being active will increase IMHO.
On the other side of the coin however is that I'm reading posts on Twitter from porn stars that are blaming these recent cases of HIV on activity that porn stars are doing OUTSIDE the industry including escorting.....
Nothing will change in the industry as long as the decisions about the industry are one sided and the actual performers are unorganized and unrepresented as a group.
An individual who would request condom use on set for example can simply be replaced. And yeah I know some with a libertarian bent will say it's her/his choice to participate or not, normal people know that when livelihoods are concerned it's never that simple or easy to just walk away. STDs are on the job risk, and should be covered under standard workers compensation and health benefits plans, which most performers don't have. So when a performer contracts HIV who pays for their long term health care needs? And because escorting is a private affair between two adults, I don't expect that to change much either
Of course they are blaming it on activity outside the industry. That is spin & rationalization by people who don't have many opportunities in this world.
Every few months for years the industry was going to implode on itself. Performers were never gonna keep working at lower rates, worse conditions, blah blah blah. Condoms were gonna kill the industry. Shoots are gonna move to Arizona. It's all garbage. Only popular girl I know of that has left the industry is Amy Reid. For the most part this is not an industry filled with rocket scientists & saints. Nobody even blinks when a girl shows up with her suitcase pimp. This isn't the 1st HIV epidemic, it won't be the last. Some performers may be more careful for a few months. But in 6-9 months it will be business as usual. It is sad, but it is reality. Maybe 10 girls quit, there are 20 more waiting to take their spots.
I rarely find any value in unions in today's America. But Porn is 1 place I think it is really needed. Sadly because of what can be a transient workforce, it would be tough to organize and nearly impossible to track. Maybe back in the day of film, it would have been possible. But with a cell phone & a laptop, almost anyone can be a pornographer. Heck I get spam from some guy offering seminars on it. Even more to the point is the fact that desperation inability to get other jobs is a reason some performers get in the industry. They are easy prey for unscrupulous "businessman" ie Johnny the Suitcase Pimp. Unionizing really is the only way the health & pay concerns will ever be resolved.
