You know, when I entered the coal mines and sold my fuckin lungs for the money, did anybody fuckin care? Why is stripping, whoring , or streetwalking anymore prostituting than giving a corporation years off your life for their bottom line? I'M THE WHORE, not these women.
Luke Ford interviewed long-time porn industry associate Greg Zeboray. Below is a small portion of the interview where Greg talks about why girls get into the porn business. I think he makes several strikingly good observations. It's a sad situation for many of these girls.
==========================================
Luke: "Do you think making porn is honorable work? Is it noble?"
Greg: "It's not noble. Even honorable? I'd probably say yes. As long as you do things legally and ethically, you are contributing to society, at least financially, if not with the product."
Luke: "Yet you know many people whose lives have been hurt because they worked in porn [as talent]."
Greg: "The people who come into the business as talent are f---ed up. No normal girl is going to do porn. The girls who come into porn are massively lazy. They don't want to work. They have no education. They're a bunch of idiots. They lost their moral compass long before they were old enough to do porn. They partied so much they were already into drinking and doing drugs. These are not normal middle-class girls. If they weren't doing porn, they'd be doing something else as bad as porn or worse."
Luke: "How can it be noble then to make your living off screwed up people?"
Greg: "I said it was just noble financially."
Luke: "If these girls are all screwed, it makes one squeamish to make one's living off them."
Greg: "Some people are born to put personal desires and financial rewards a step ahead of someone else's misery."
Luke: "It's a sick thing to make your living off people who are screwed up."
Greg: "It's not something I would do, but I'm not going to fault people who do it.
"Let me tell you a story. A girl I know of, 18 years old, comes in the business. Within three weeks, she's already gone. I hope she'll never come back.
"This girl was already an alcoholic when she came in. She'd already had a kid. She lived with her parents.
"She tried to tell her mom that she did porn and her mom flipped out. She said to me, 'I felt so bad that I just lied and said, 'Just kidding, mom. I'm really just doing modeling.'
"Every time she talks to her mom, her mom says, 'I want to see some pictures.' Of course her mom is proud of her. She thinks her daughter is a model.
"The agent should've said to this girl, 'This isn't the right career for you. Your family will find out. It's going to devastate your relationship with your family. You already have a drinking problem.'
"Instead, agents say things like, 'Don't drink while you're working. But look at all these jobs I got for you. You're going to make $10,000 in the next two weeks."
Luke: "Working in porn would have to devastate relationships between a child and her family."
Greg: "You better believe it. A girl is better off being a whore. She can go to San Francisco and turn tricks day and night. Then, when she leaves the business, she can come to LA and nobody is going to know what she's been doing. When a girl shoots porn, the images are distributed around the world. These images never go away.
"Her personal relationships are over. First, they lose almost every friend they have, not so much because their friends disaprove, but because of the lifestyle change. They lose the closeness with their family. They'll never have a normal relationship because every guy they're with will look at them as a whore. He'll say, 'This is fun. I'm having a great time.' But she won't be who he wants to take home to mom and introduce as the one who will give her grandchildren.
"When they make the decision to enter Adult, they are throwing away a big chunk of their future. If I could talk to every new girl who enters the Adult business, I'd explain everything I just told you. And if half of them turned around and walked away, I'd say that was wonderful."
Luke: "Have you slept with or dated any of these girls?"
Greg: "Never. For many reasons. One, I've almost always had a girlfriend. I do not believe in cheating. I don't have a girlfriend now. I have long figured that as long as I didn't even try to go on a date with a girl, nobody in the industry could ever say, 'Watch out for Zeboray, he's out to meet the girls.' Two. There can never be a bad situation between me and a girl that causes her to tell people to stay away from me and that kills my business."
Luke: "You must get to know these girls fairly well. How do you keep yourself from becoming Captain Saveaho?"
Greg: "I don't get to know them well anymore. When I first got around the industry, I tried to be a friend to a lot of the girls. They could call me. I'd let them stay at my house. It only took me a year or two to realize there was nothing I could do for them. It's so painful to watch girls swear they'd never step in the fire again, and then turn around and do it. I have ceased all personal chats with talent."
Some intersting observations... but Zeboray is generalizing, which is always dangerous. If you know Luke's history, he is a self-hating porn addict. He's fascinated by the industry, but hates himself for it. So you have to take anything on his site with a grain of salt.
First of all, not every girl who does porn is fucked up. I know a lot of ponrstars AND PSEs who are centered, intelligent, sober and content. They absolutely LOVE what they're doing. Sara Jay is a perfect example. Over dinner at our second meeting, I asked her why she got into porn. She replied "because I really like to fuck strangers"... I then asked her why she got into escorting, and she said "because I like to fuck a LOT of strangers" - lol.
Now, I think the "old time" pornstars like Taylor Wayne, Keisha, Kathy Willets, Anna Malle (R.I.P.), et. al. are much more in touch with their sexuality than most of tne new girls - many of them were swingers in their personal lives. They got into porn for the fun of it... back then, it was much more stigmatized than it is today, and they certainly didn't make the kind of money that girls do now.
The fact that porn is a lot more mainstream now makes it much more attractive to a lot of young girls. So yes, there are a lot of fucked up 18 year olds who don't think about the consequences or the future... but there are still a lot of intelligent, non-alcoholic/non-drug addict girls who see it as a way of making a lot more money than anything else they could do, weigh the pros and cons, and make the decision to do porn with both eyes open.
Generalizing is always a sign of little intelligence, but the observations of the fact that nobody will see these girls as normal after doing porn is right, it's up to people intelligence to consider this world as normal and our society isn't that mature or liberal.
As for the addictions, a lot of girls has some big or little problems, but to tell you the european situation, the actress here do these just for the money, sometime they are able to hide the truth to the family, but I betit's different from th U.S., especially from the East europe pov.
Obviously internet is coming faster and faster in every house too and the situation won't be the same for long.
The Euro porn stars tend to be better looking then those from the US and there isn't as much stigma about "sex" in general in Europe as there is here. There's also the economic aspect, attractive to very attractive women from eastern Europe see porn as a way out of their particular circumstance. While some women from the US see porn as an econmic opportunity, you just don't see very attractive US women doing porn generally. Our society puts enough value on a pretty face(doesn't make a pretty heart though) in most cases that these ladies have other "doors" opened for them.
I remember seeing a blonde window girl in Amsterdam back in the late 90s. She was f*****g gorgeous, a Czech, maybe 22 or 23, and working in an area away from the red light district. Dropped 50 dollars for 30 minutes of s$x with this gorgeous crature. We talked a little afterwards, she was wearing a gold cross and explained to me in somewha tbroken english about her Catholic upbringing, and her desire to get out of her home country. If I'd have been in a position to, I'd have taken her back to the US and shacked up with her.....see what a sucker we Yanks are for a pretty face ( : MfSD>>>>
While I enjoy porn, like being with PSE's and consider myself intelligent, other wise I would not be able to practice law at all I will be the first to say that the world of pornography is NOT normal at all.
Here's the story of star Tommy Gunn, who by entering porn, helped changed his life for the better..On top of that, he's married to Rita Faltoyano, so unlike the one reviewer in the past, I'm sure he doesn't have to worry about getting the dreaded CBJ - LOL!
As far as Luke Ford goes, I remember the time he was on 60 Minutes when they did a feature on porn (this was couple years ago) & he had snide remarks about female porn stars saying, & I'm paraphrasing "These girls wern't exactly going to be MD's & JD's anyway" -
What is Luke Ford's website address?
I had it at one time but seem to have lost it.
I have run into these bitter, jaded individuals. I have found that many of the men in the adult industry to be this way and they are in the wrong business. They have been burned by too many times, especially if they are trying to save people. If you think about it, being around 18-22 year old entertainers all the time will mess with your head if you don’t have the temperament for it. Many of the jaded men have also bitched and moaned that a gal that has no skills that is slightly attractive can walk in and make a heap of money. I sense a little jealousy. Honestly, it is work to have sex as much as some of the girls do for hours at a time for a room of strangers. The new girls tend to work 6 days a week when they start due to the high demand for a fresh face. Try looking happy for 4-12 hours straight even if you are tired, hungry, and your muscles are sore. If there was a way for these guys to walk a mile in a female adult entertainer’s shoes, they would quickly change their tune. Or maybe they should have decided that they were not going to surround themselves with and befriend every cute girl they met, drug addict or not.
Its easier to believe the girls are fucked up and idiots rather than being in the industry because they love it, want to explore their sexuality, and aren’t hung up on the old belief that sex is bad(thankfully). There are many things that many of the new girls don't realize but that doesn't mean they are stupid, just naive. I run into a lot of girls that are going to college, or already have a degree, and approach this industry as a business instead of a party. There will always be drug addicts, mental problems, alcoholism, and any number of other negative problems, but porn doesn’t cause this. They already have these issues coming in.
There are lazy people everywhere, my industry is no different. Yet, unless he has ever been a female sex worker, I really see no validity in his claim.
Moral compass? Oh please! This is a new generation of liberal adults that actually enjoys sex. It’s no longer the boogie-man to be feared. It seems he is the one with a moral issue with the business. We aren’t victims, and neither is he.
Its no wonder that when a woman enters this business that is intelligent, business minded, and absolutely loves sex, it scares the crap out of guys like this. When you get that bitter, and jaded attitude, its time to move on to another line of work instead of staying in entertainment. Unfortunately, these haters will continue to feel this way, and hate themselves and everyone around them while becoming a stereotype themselves and may not even realize it.
It's fun living outside the box ![]()
You are so right, Sarah! There are always going to be people complaining, no matter what the industry.
I've met you, as well as Paola Rey and Jodie Moore, and I have to say that each of you is in the industry as a business and teats is as such... a serious job, not a party. I saw you and Paola more often, so I can say that you both are very intelligent, you know what you want out the of the industry and you're getting it. And the people who watch your films (and make them) should feel lucky to have the quality of performers they're getting in you and Paola (and Jodie, among others.) There will always be the so-called "rebels" that ruin the reputation of an industry because their exploits are the ones that get coverage. No one writes about the girls who go to work, do their job (very well, I might add) and then go home and leave work at the office.
Hopefully people will realize that people like this AH are just having issues with their lives and take it out on the closest thing or person. He can have his sad little life!
well stated sarah bravo once gain you have proven that your beauty is not skin deep but transcends through your heart and your intellect. take care sweetie. mpls is still waiting ha ha.
You know, when I entered the coal mines and sold my fuckin lungs for the money, did anybody fuckin care? Why is stripping, whoring , or streetwalking anymore prostituting than giving a corporation years off your life for their bottom line? I'M THE WHORE, not these women.
For every Paola Rey, Jodie Moore, Dani Woodward, or Sarah Blake that has it together, there are several girls that are drug addicted and f'ed up. I will not name names to be impolite. So, the generalization is overstated, but in general the majority of PS I have met are substance abusers, are always late, lose their cell phones constantly and have serious mental problems involving suicide or abuse in their family. So let's not dismiss the comment just because there are exceptons.
As I said in my last post, there will always be drug abusers and lazy people in the entertaiment biz. There are tose that treat the industry like a party and not a business.
I discount any comment that implies that ALL of any group, wether they fit in the group or not, always has a certain trait or background. As humans we must define and group and label everything. You just have to remember that it is ignorant to not treat each person as an individual.
Here's a fact for you, at least 1 in 3 women are abused at some point in thier lives. So, its a given that some of these gals would be in the industry as with any other industry.
I always dismiss a man's comment about women that is negative in my industry due to bitterness, being jaded, or jealousy.

i just started shooting porn a few months ago, i've only done 6 scenes so far.
there is some truth in some of these generalizations by Greg but one thing that is not particularly true is that the girls have no education.
I'm sure there are some who do not, but i am a college student and a few of my friends in porn are college graduates.
Some girls get into it to exorcise their demons and some get in it just for the money.
Not all the girls are on drugs either, I'm not.
Hey Vicki- Many of the guys who view porn are in some manner, fuckedup. I know,I'm one of em. But "Greg's" little article was nothing more than an excersize in politics. Blame and judge others, and people will assume you know what you are taking about. And yes, they will even vote for you. Or, in Greg's case, take his nonsence seriously.
