1) Find out who owns the domain name and ask to purchase it from them. Sometimes this is easier said than done. 2) Ignore them and make up your own domain.
I have been wanting to do a website and I went to get Bridgettemonroe.com and someone else has that name. What do I do?? Also you should see what they are using it for. Its kind of ridiculous. Can anyone tell me what I should do. XOXO Bridgette
You may want to look for an attorney with experience dealing with "cyber-squatting" and the Anticybersquatting Consumer Protection Act (ACPA), which is part of the Trademark Act under 15 USC 1125(d).
Under the Act, a trademark holder can have a domain name which is made up, entirely or in part, of a trademark he owns transferred to him, because the use of the domain name by the "squatter" is essentially trademark infringement.
Several celebrities have had this done in the past couple of years, including Madonna and Julia Roberts.
Sure I think I can help you.Try to drop a T in Bridgette,if doesn't work try to use org and not com. If that doesn't work write to me at [email protected]
Bridgette, Why don't you just change the site name a little...say like use..BeautifulBridgette.com or BridgetteMonroexxx.com...will that work for you...geez u r beautiful so I know the 1st suggestion above works....Hugs, BB
Im an adult webmaster by trade so there are some pit falls you want to avoid along with marketing tips you probably want before you go blazing into a site.
I know I can use another name besides bridgettemonroe.com I was just wondering if anyone knew how to get my name back.. I will probaly end up using the name you suggested. It just sucks that someone else has my name.. *sigh*
Use XXXBridgetteMonroe or BridgatteMonroeXXX, Something like that, It is common for people to buy up domain names and yours is one that somebody scooped up. You can't really do anything about it
actually, you can do something. if you can prove that it is your "real" name and/or that your business is being impeded because someone took the domain name to stop you from having it, you can make a case for the domain name. what you need to prove is that someone purchased the domain name in an effort to make profits off of your name or business. if you are willing to fight for something like that (unlikely b/c of the cost), then you've got a case. you might as well grab one of the ones previously suggested.
Bridgette. You can get it but doing requires you to file a resolution request with ICANN. I think this costs 1500 bucks. You simply have to prove first commercial use of the name.
If the owners real name is the same as the URL ...You lose.
My advice get a play on the name like other here suggested
1) Find out who owns the domain name and ask to purchase it from them. Sometimes this is easier said than done. 2) Ignore them and make up your own domain.
