McCain's support of Bush, NOT Kerry put Keery supporters who sang the praises of McCain in a moral predicament?

Keery suporters on (you included) sang the praises of one SEnator John McCain. They opined that he in their opinion he had the character, the vision, the intellegence to be Vice President of the United States.

The same Senator John McCain has publiclly stated that in his opinion, (which was held in such high regard by Keery supporter on this thread!!!) that George W. Bush should be the next President of the United States.

To Quote John McCain::

""""He has led this country with moral clarity," McCain said of Bush in praising his stewardship of the war on terror as commander-in-chief.

"There have been ups and downs as there have been in any war, but like you, he has not wavered in his determination to protect this country, and to make the world a better, safer and freer place. You will not yield, nor will he,” the Arizona senator said.""""""""

In fact, these are YOUR words::

""when in Fact I, like many, voted for "Dutch" Reagan BOTH times, and admire current ones like Sen. John McCain,"""

So, AllHailTheBaloneySandwich, now that you have properly chastized me and gotten me back on the issues, What say you?

But I guess maybe you only read one of my posts that mentioned McCain.

Links to the TWO posts that I bring up McCain.

Is it a Knife to the heart of a possible Kerry/McCain ticket, I suppose so, but who said that was the ticket we wanted? Not I. It was an interesting option no doubt, a truly bipartisan ticket to show this nation and the world that maybe American politics was more than just political bickering between "Damn-o-crats" and "Re-puke-a-cons", but I guess McCain feels it's more important to stay loyal to the GOP. Though I can't really understand why? Look at the way they treated him when he ran in 2000 against Bush, and every time McCain had the balls to stand up and defend his friend Kerry. They lambasted him as a traitor to the GOP and all the other political BS, now he comes out and indorses Bush, something he's ALWAYS professed he'd do anyways, and now he's your hero again huh ???

I've also said I don't agree with many of McCain’s positions on certain critical issues, such as abortion, religion, Gun control, NAFTA, and a few others. Though I do applaud McCain on trying to regulate Government Waste/Spending (pork barrel spending, {such as G.W. Bush's $375 BILLION Omnibus Appropriations Bill}), opposing silly Tax cuts during a time of war, and his other various Government Reforms. And of course no one can question his former military service, he has shown he doesn't need his Daddy to buy his way out of the "front line" service.
If you have to pigeon hole McCain, he'd be a Moderate Conservative, and I'd say I'm more a Moderate Liberal.

So, BILLKILE, just because I think well of McCain overall, doesn't mean I can't also think he's wrong in this case (or others) for abandoning certain principles/ideals of his for others and sticking with the GOP and Bush.

Honestly, I don't really get your point behind this question, its not like we put all our hopes on McCain to help defeat Bush in the first place. Though had Kerry actually offered McCain the VP running mate slot and McCain took it, you must admit that Bush/Cheney would have been in serious trouble, or do you not agree on that ?

libs were licking their chops at the meer thought of sucha  thing happening.

FWIW, I like McCain. I liked him from when I saw him in the Keating 5 hearings. I liked him for the Republican nomination in 2000 and was pissed at GW's hatchetmen portrayed him as being unstable. And I like him now.

But watch as those who liked him for a moment, go to the closet for those skeletons you spoke of.

The point of the post is, I don't think anyone who formerly thought highly of McCain and his judgement and integrity, can now with a straightface say the man he endorsed for President is a lying, coniving, thieving warmonger who is terrible for America. Not without also besmerching McCain's judgement and integrity.

Liberals can still overall like McCain, yet DISAGREE with him, can't we ? Or is your world so black and white that it's not possible to do both ?

McCain is good friends with J.F. Kerry, does your process of thinking now mean that McCain must tow the GOP line and start bashing Kerry ? If he does this, then maybe Bush's hatchet men were right in 2000, and he is unstable, or worse .....

He's a dreaded FLIP FLOPPER.
