Only 9% of the 1.9 trillion has anything to do with Covid relief. This is just another Democrat money grab. Over half of the money is not even going to be used until 2024. Its pretty clear that the Dems just want to put this money out over time to give the impression that the US under Biden has a thriving economy. If its being supported by debt, its a house of cards and will come crashing down once the money runs out.
So what does the other 91% of the money have to do with Covid? Nothing, but the Dems are willing to let Americans suffer if they don't get all of that pork to play with. As even the MSM starts to question whether all of the debt is necessary RIGHT NOW, some Dem Senators and Congressmen are starting to waiver. Dems need to get real. This pipe dream is an exercise in futility. Get the money to the people that need it, and take the rest up later. Why throw money away that may not be needed for something that may not happen? We know what we will need as far as money for the things we are facing THIS year. Why appropriate Covid money for 2022 at the beginning of 2021. Why not wait until the fall and see where we are on the Covid recovery. When you pass a spending bill, you have to state what the money is to be used for, and since we don't know what the face of Covid will look like 8 months from now, why should we GUESS now? Wouldn't it be better to wait and see the reality of what we are dealing with in the fall. It may all be gone by then, and the money won't be needed in the way that we think, but in a different way. We should approach it a step at a time. A $15 minimum wage might destroy the economy, but if we wait until the fall and the economy is coming back nicely, that would be time to pass it. The only thing that is needed now is money to open schools safely, help for restaurants and other small businesses that have been hard-hit during the lockdowns, and direct payments to Americans by way of stimulus checks or extended unemployment benefits.
