Let's see, Cheney has a secret meeting with his cronies in Energy industry to help set national energy policy.  Of course, his insistance on secrecy having been supported by his duck-hunting buddies in the Supreme Court.  And Bush and Cheney's largest campaign donors, both in 2000 and 2004 are these same companies in the energy industry.  

Oh, and, BTW, the Republicans control both houses of Congress, in addition to the Presidency.  Yet Cheney has the audacity to claim that high Gas prices are because the DEMOCRATS in the congress refused to go along with his and Bush's plans to gut environmental regulations and give their cronies in the Energy industry more tax incentives for domestic oil drilling.  What about the REPUBLICANS who didn't support these measures?  When you control both houses of Congress, you get your bills passed unless Your OWN party doesn't agree with them.

It's beyond belief that American Citizens continue to tolerate the lack of accountibility of this Administration.  About the only surprise here is that he didn't claim it was Clinton's fault for getting a blowjob 6 years ago.

It was Cheney who also blamed California for the runup in our energy bills during 2001. I think the excuse was that it was due to California's "very poor implementation of deregulation." Of course, it couldn't have been the rigging of energy prices by energy traders such as Enron, Duke, etc. These are the same traders who wanted to stick it to "Grandma Millie". And boy, didn't they.

Course, if Cheney would known about Grandma Millie, I'm sure he would have held her responsible.

It's interesting that, with oil at all time highs of $44/barrel, we are on the verge of tumbling back into recession. The big recessions of the last 30 years have each been largely due to oil price runups/shortages. Especially with the release of Fahrenheit 9/11, it's always been surmised that the Saudis would simply turn the tap and release enough oil into the pipeline to help save George W.'s election this fall. As it now appears that the Saudi fields are producing at capacity, such a scenario may no longer be possible. One more oil shock, and we may be back to days of stagflation in the late '70's.

I despise Cheney in terms I can't even bring myself to articulate however one thing I respect him and most republiCONS for is that they have balls.  Cheney is about as tough as they come and that part of him I do admire!!!!!

Well, Cheney may be tough as nails, but he's dumb as a post. I say this, not just as someone on the left, but also as a long-suffering Halliburton shareholder.

When you're listing Cheney's "achievements" as a CEO of Halliburton, there is no denying that his acquisition of Dresser and its attendant asbestos liabilities is a "singular" accomplishment, and not in a good way. It drove the share price down from 60 to 10. Even worse, Cheney was warned of the pending litigation before the buy-out.

What did Clinton say at the Convention, "Strength and wisdom are not opposing values!"

Still, those on the right could argue that Cheney wasn't all that dumb. Didn't he get + $30 mil and a yearly pension?

And the speech you refer to was describing Kerry, not describing Clinton.  He could just as easily have said:

"DUI Convictions and being qualified to be President are opposing values!"  Since, as I pointed out on an earlier post, the number of Americans killed by drunk drivers each year is an order of magnitude greater than the number killed on 9/11, so that is certainly an important failing in Bush's background.  And that WOULD have been germane to the current election, whereas YOUR chosen quote was not.

Do you know this from personal experience ?  BFD, Clinton screwed Monica.  It's not his self-control that was necessarily faulty, but lying about it - That was indeed lame.  Anyways, how many among us would pass on an opportunity if we THOUGHT we could get away with it ?  I for one would not F Monica, even with GWB's dick, but to each his own.
