You may be correct about that.

But I think most of these jobs are secondary jobs, or retiree positions and are additional income, not the main source of income in their homes. Now that they are paying $11.00 an hour, I would think that is more than the .25 or .50 above the state minimum. Do you have a link, hpy? I couldnt find anything on google.

Walmart investing in their employees, upping their wages and giving out bonuses as a direct result from MAGA tax cut!?! Most people will think this is great news and a win for their middle class workers but of course 'Resist' will tell us how bad it is. Ha!

Walmart ee’s get a $1K bonus!.......if they’ve been w/Walmart for 20+ years!  So, these people have been working for near minimum wage for 20 years!?  And they get food stamps because they’re below poverty level!

I guess Walmart ain’t “Americas Best First Job!

That is great news! Your article is also from almost 4 years ago.

I was just watching cnbc and they said this will now pressure other larger retailers to follow Walmart's lead as they expect many more announcements like this in the coming weeks and months. Great stuff!

Walmart is simply agreeing to pay $11.00 an hour where minimum wage in most places is $10.50/hour.  The expense of this is defrayed by their closing the majority of its Sams Club stores in low income areas where they performed poorly.  There is absolutely no benefit to the working class at all by this.  It just makes the Walton family richer.

Not so fast, Walmart simultaneously announced layoffs as well.  So glad we are creating jobs, aren't you?

They aren't laying off those people because the economy is bad, they are switching up their operation bc shoppers are buying more things online. They are changing as the market changes. EVERY smart business does this.

Many of the people will switch jobs to work on the e-commerce side and they will help many others transition to other Walmart properties.

The rising wages and the bonuses is fantastic for these middle class people and I am sure the people who will receive those wages and bonuses are happy to have them increase.

And you cant look at the store closures and bury your head in the sand about store OPENINGS over the last year.

Sheez...

I'm sorry to say, but I never thought of the employees at Walmart as being "Middle Class". They're a notch above the poverty line, would you say? I bet most are making .25-.50 above the state minimum.
