He seemed rather miffed that Cooper suggested that this could get a few more US soldiers killed.

But I gotta say, I'm not entirely opposed to what this lunatic is doing.

There seems to be a double standard in this country. Religious lunatics are free to practice their delusional beliefs, and affect public policy for the worse, and yet no one is allowed to criticize religious lunatics, or their idiotic and genocidial beliefs.

In that regards, I'm quite glad this nutcase is going to be burning a Quran. And with a little luck, some nutty Muslim will walk into his church on Sunday with party favors strapped to his chest.

We expect people to act with restraint even when exposed to material they find offensive.

For examples, just look at the absolutely rampant and flagrant affronts to Christianity in this country.

A couple of recent examples are "Piss Christ" as an art exhibit, with Jesus on the cross upside down in urine; and Ofili's "The Holy Virgin Mary." In fairness, I believe this latter painting to be seriously misunderstood by religious folks; but nevertheless both were incredibly offensive.

Moreover, Christianity is used as a punching bag in this country by everything from stand=up comedians to Saturday Night Live.

YET -- and here is my point -- NOBODY says to the various artists, comedians, etc. "Don't you dare offend those Christians!  If you do, they will likely kill a whole bunch of people to vent their rage."

We allow this type of activity in United States because it's there right to protest, burn books, march, have rallies. When we allow this type of activity in United States we don't lose a fraction of an inch of high ground. When we stop the right of an citizen  or group of citizens to burn books we lose freedom.

My first thought was that the Rev Terry Jones was a self aggrandizing, publicity seeking, piece of shit, attention whore that was only doing this to claim his "fifteen minutes of fame" without regard for the innocent lives that could be lost in the expected backlash from Muslim extremists.
