Major Virginia Redistricting Case Update

The Virginia Supreme Court (#SCOVA) has DENIED the emergency request to stay the injunction of certification of last week's Gerrymandering referendum!

In the 'tea leaves' category, this is as positive a 'tea leaf' as one might imagine!

If #SCOVA thought they would let the referendum stand, then logically they would have lifted the injunction on counting & certifying the votes.

Caveat: this is still just tea leaves, but it's a good sign.

@Kalshi & @Polymarket are probably crashing on this at the moment :)
The odds might be swinging in favor of the Republicans, but I am not about to put money on the Virginia Supreme Court ruling against the Democrats on this case. That said, a Dem loss, would be a major setback in Hakeem Jeffries self named “war” to regain the majority in the House.

I know Dem's are kicking and screaming saying ACTIVIST JUDGE...

 
But what they don't understand is that they FAILED their own constitution when pushing this and implementing it.   They didn't meet timelines and rules.     They trying to "ram it thru".

First the Virginia Supreme Court upheld the injunction against certifying the vote on the constitutional amendment. Now they are nervous that it’s taking too long to make a ruling.

There is A LOT of anxiety building amongst VA D’s and behind the scenes finger pointing breaking out over who warned of legal issues last Fall and who insisted it would be fine.

procedural errors.  If there is no work-around available to cure the procedural defects, the court may never look at this case under the guidelines of the SCOTUS ruling banning race as a basis of redistricting.

Dems VA redistricting worries: “What I was told yesterday is that they now think it’s less than 50% that the court will let the certification go through. The Governor’s staff is now snipping at the Sen Maj and House Speaker that they warned them last fall this would not pass legal review.”
The Senate Majority Leader and House Speaker do have one card up their sleeves. Two of the justices 12 year terms are expiring and Virginia is one of two states where Supreme Court appointments are done by the state legislature. So in theory they’ve got some leverage.

Dems already sweating the redistricting case, and now their lead legislator on the 10D-1R map gets pulled into a major corruption probe. Wow.

BREAKING: @FoxNews is on scene in Portsmouth, VA where the FBI is raiding the office of Virginia Senate President Pro Tempore L Louise Lucas, a Democrat and close ally of VA Governor Spanberger. Fed law enforcement sources tell FOX this is in connection to a major corruption probe, and the FBI is serving multiple search warrants, approved by a federal judge, at her office and a next door cannabis dispensary. More to come with correspondent @AlexHoganTV, who reports that Lucas just showed up on scene as the FBI searches her office.
She’s a very brash and confrontational politician:
Earlier this year, Lucas suggested that VA Senators Tim Kaine & Mark Warner are "cucks" as she pushed for the 10-1 VA Dem redistricting plan.
This alleged corruption might involve some cannabis dispensaries she’s associated with:
NOW: An FBI raid is unfolding at the office of Virginia Democratic State Sen. Louise Lucas — and it’s already drawing serious attention.

Multiple people on the scene are reportedly being taken into custody as agents move through the area.

in the corrupt world of Democrat politics for elected officials to start thinking they are impervious to investigation or prosecution.  The FBI is doing a great job under Patel in rooting out fraud and corruption throughout the Democrat political machine.

I was hopeful for this outcome, but ready to be disappointed. Looks like Virginia Senate leader L Louise Lucas is having a terrible week. First, the FBI raids her cannabis stores, then this.

The Virginia Supreme Court on Friday overturned the state’s redistricting ballot measure that would have given Democrats an edge in four House districts, dealing the party a massive blow ahead of the midterms.
The ruling now gives Republicans a clear lead in the gerrymandering efforts over the last year, which were further inflamed by the Supreme Court’s Voting Rights Act decision last week, bolstering the party’s chances of holding the House in an unfavorable political environment.
