They came up with that winner only after the left wing press also started finally questioning all the non answers the WH gave on Obama's lack of attendance.

Odd, there were no "security reasons" mentioned when he attended Beau Biden's funeral, or Nelson Mandela's, or Ted Kennedy's or Walter Kronkite's or even former KKK leader Robert Byrd's.

The WH docket listed no other pressing issues on Obama's itinerary for Saturday.

I guess the WH could have said Scalia was an evil man, and that is why he didn't attend, but then you have one of the most liberal justices in Ruth Bader Ginsberg calling Scalia her "best friend."  

This POTUS is now completely exposed as running the most divisive, petty, hateful and polarizing presidency of all time.

Gee...it seemed like just yesterday when Bams was saying there is no "blue states" or "red states of America", only the "United States of America."

He was mentored by the likes of Reverend Jeremiah Wright and listed Bill Ayers and Al Sharpton as his "friends."

Should this latest intentionally divisive deed be a shock to anyone?

righties need to find comedy acts to be the straight-men for. Just like with Benghazi, before anyone really knew what happened, and the dead Americans bodies were barely cold, Romney jumped in with both feet, politicizing their deaths. Now, the same thing with Scalia. Barely is his body cold and Mitch McConnell jumps in with both feet, and politicizes his death. So, we may never know, but perhaps the the President, or Scalia's family, or both did not wish do anything, relating to his funeral, which is a family affair, that continued the politicization of his death. As others have said, there would be criticisms from the right, and perhaps even from the left, if he had had attended. And, I can easily imagine that neither the family, nor Obama wanted that to occur. The family is going through enough suffering. There's no reason for them to suffer through that. And, I could easily imagine, if that were the case, Obama would have used the security issue, to help the family save face; sparing them any criticism for wishing the President not attend.

...have any facts to back up your bullshit claim that Obama was "the FIRST President in history to miss a Supreme Court Justice funeral."  You provided no link at all to back up your FALSE statement.  But that has never stopped ignorant, uninformed, uneducated righties in the past and it never will.  Facts just get in the way of their lies.

That was my first question when this tripe was first introduced. It was a remark made partially 'tongue in cheek," but also seriously. The viewing is public, hence 'the public viewing', while the funeral is personal, and the families wishes, regarding who attends trumps everything else.

"However, according to reporting from Politico, people close to Scalia's family said the president was making the right move and that Friday was a more appropriate time for his presence."

The righties conveniently ignore that fact. It's been their knee-jerk reaction to cast aspersion on everything Obama does.  ;)

No, the Press Secretary did not say Mr. Obama was not attending because of “security” reasons but implied that the President was concerned that his security detail would be too much of a distraction. We already have the VP security detail there and who knows what other dignitaries with security attended. So rather than block access to the free parking and cause a massive traffic jam on Michigan Avenue, the president opted to pay his respects Friday night when the Justice was lying in repose.

     This way the funeral focused on the true subject – the death of Mr. Scalia rather than a photo opt for the Head of State. If only the Republicans – and you - had been as sensitive about politicizing this death.

Just give a logical reason why he couldn't get his partisan ass off the couch to honor a man of 30 years giving his service to the highest court in the land.

There isn't any, that's why.

Maybe if Obama was a constitutional scholar he would have shown more respect to the court that interprets the........constitution?

You are correct about one thing. There isn't, or shouldn't be, a "requirement" or a "tradition" to do the right thing.

You do get if he was honest about why he didn't attend the funeral that would have been at least ten times as divisive as what you're accusing him of?

He honored the man by attending the viewing. The polite and non-divisive thing to do was make up a reason why he wasn't going to the funeral. Some Presidents attend neither.

President Clinton attended the funerals of Justices Harry Blackmun and Lewis F. Powell, Jr.  If a conservative had made that mistake, you would have gently corrected him but since a perceived lib did it you had to club him over the head with the subject line: "...your facts could not be more WRONG."  

Really, did it deserve an all-caps "wrong?"  In fact, he could have been more "wrong" but he made a mistake and said Marshall rather than Powell.  And you were Johnny on the spot to dig up a C-SPAN video rather than pointing out his mistake.  Did that 'gotcha' make you feel virile?

I’ll concede my inarticulate combination of the use of “totally” and the plural “facts” does leave room for grammatical correction. In reality only one of his two facts was totally WRONG.

Beyond that correction of the record there are several things in your responses to me that demonstrate quite nicely my original “tripe” comment. The drivel and bilge and lack of substance that has overshadowed this forum is evidenced by your accusation that my post was partisan as is your attempt to make this sub-thread a personal attack on me.

I’m not sure if we should now expect one or more of the following; you will cease from making any further correction of mistakes people make and you will no longer complain people fail to include links to supporting evidence. And then there is your interesting assertion that I should be reading and fact checking all posts, or at least far more than I have been recently; which BTW was exactly ONE. I wasn't on the board last night to point out the stupidity of any of the posts, but there was PLENTY to go around, and it wasn't limited to just the right wing trolls like brooks and Rommel. Check out some of the incredibly stupid things said by your fellow lefties bigguy and laffy.
