I think Dubya and Ahmadenijad might get us into a war from total idiocy.

... But now that he's exposed himself as a total asswipe, I think it was a good thing.

the fringe groups that responded to him... and that the media presents it as ALL americans think that he is a good guy.... (they giggled at his remarks about homosexuals, yet if Bush had made the same statement, they would have burned the building)... just too much.

While the constitution provides that the government shall make no laws preventing any citizen from speaking, it does not guarantee that a venue should be served up on a silver platter.... for my part, the man's comments were offensive on so many levels, and if people think that in his country there is freedom?  let them go there and live.   Yea, I know.... sounds sooo right wing... but know what, it ain't - it is just a recognition that there are some really bad dudes out there who mean to do anyone they do not like harm.  This guy would harm many.... if he had the chance.

We need to wake up -

I don't think the media is making it sound like Americans think he is a good guy.  I'm not sure where that is coming from.

If Bush said those same things they should burn down the building.  Bush is the President of the US, he is the Iranian President which is more like the Queen of England than the President of the US.  (he's more of a figurehead than an actual policy maker - yes, i know he's influential in Iran, but he isn't exactly the top dog)

It's a good thing he spoke here, he may be a nut (which he certainly is in my opinion), but anything that makes Americans more aware of what the world and what others views are on America is a good thing.  For better or worse the US has consistently introduced themselves into conflicts in the Middle East, and as such, they should be able to speak to us, to anyone, about their thoughts/views/opinions of the US and anywhere else.

choices about speakers?

It does seem to me that free speech and due process (ie listening - and the simple fact that he represents Iran gets him reasonable time) are some core American values, and any hope to spread those isn't helped by denying them to any others.

I think this is a classic example of giving somebody a rope to hang themselves.

OTOH, just because that fucker is crazy does not automatically mean we do ourselves any good by mud-wrestling him.

When he says "we don't have queers in Iran" (we hanged the last one Tuesday) he sounds just like the GOP when they say, "the only problem in Iraq is that you don't believe everything is fine".

You gotta have machine-guns to be ready to deal with those idiots.  But you also have to be damn smart about using them, and having a couple extra bandoleers does NOT mean you have to use them.

Fucking Bush and his video game voters need a dose of reality, up close, not from any air-conditioned seat 1000 miles away.

SmellTest2135 reads

Of course, the GOP doesn't actually say "the only problem in Iraq is that you don't believe everything is fine"... but what does that matter...

Do you actually represent clients? I feel for you because your malpractice insurance must be off the charts...

what a fuckin stupid question.  You're not TESTING, you're SUCKING.

GOP apologists (ie, PACs & other alter egos) do in fact float that dumbass argument, as BK has within the last week, that if everybody just believed, everything would be fine.

Now get your nose away from the shit.

SmellTest2403 reads

You didn't say GOP apologists, you said GOP...sorry, I get confused sometimes by lawyers who don't say what they actually mean.

Do you have the same problem in court when you make an argument? Say one thing that sounds like the other but doesn't actually mean the same thing? I know judges tend to frown on that. But you can fool a lot of juries though.

It must be fun going through life getting paid to make arguments about things you don't know much about.

So when Bush shrugged his shoulders that he wasn't controlling the Swift Boaters, we all knew he was lying.

Read more, and you'll struggle less with words.  And don't be a sea lawyer, ie, somebody who confuses semantics with law.   It's not hard, but it's not as easy as it looks, either.

And pointless hostility ain't doing you any good.  Get a fucking dart board, and dart gun with a few hundred darts.  You'll get tired of it soon enough.

SmellTest2133 reads

Gee, let me check the archives--- nope, sorry. You said GOP not GOP apologists.

Your comment about "pointless hostility" does carry some weight with me though as this is clearly one of the few subjects you have evidenced a mastery of- Thanks for the tip...

and you've got that down.

I asked you if you KNEW what an agent was, and you're pretending it's something else.

But you knew that.   You're just being an asshole, I mean Republican.

SmellTest2256 reads

Yea, well I like to stay on point...Whereas you like to change the subject.

Let's see, what did you say next? Oh yes, more name calling rants about an asshole and Republicans- got it...Ok, remind me again about "pointless hostility"...??

the only point you have is on your head.

You throw the 1st punch, you're gonna get a shitload back.   It's what I do.

SmellTest1278 reads

You don't actually say much of anything but you do say it loudly.

And you do give back nothing but loads of shit- the shit of the bull...No SmellTest required to discern that.

Still talking about head? I thought I addressed that. No, my dick's got more of a rounded character to it.

you do some insane shit based on something like no reading comprehension, historical record hypocrisy, blatant lies, and then you turn around and accuse your opponent of the same stuff, things you wouldn't be bright enough to figure out if you hadn't just done it.

You make heroes out of incoherent deserters - I think it's George's obvious incoherence that appeals to you, because fuck, he could be saying anything, and you'd never know - and set them up to smear a Cleland or Kerry or Murtha - any of whom might be legitimately criticized on ideas, but not on personal courage - because of course, if there is anything Bush needs more than a brain, it's personal courage and integrity.

So why do you voters - most of whom are fine fellows if sometimes a little thick and loud - choose Pat Robertson and George Bush as your heroes?  Do you still resent your high school history assignment, that you really did have to read and discuss?   Certainly you don't buy into the Jesus scams?   Buddy, it's just 2000 year old scientology, with all the rough edges worn off, you know?

The fact that there are tons of bullshit in the world does not mean you need to buy into any part of it.  Stay sober, just say no to Republicanism!

was shoved up yer butt.

The point you'd like to stay on would be - oh yes, Clinton got a BJ.  And FDR was a socialist.

Well let me tell you this:  I'm going to run for President, and I'm gonna copyright my platform, so nobody can rip me off:  Socialized Blowjobs!!

Yes, folks, everybody gets eaten.  We have mandatory lessons for those who don't know how, and we have the gays help tart up the really homely folks.

Yes, I realize it will create a tremendous additional problem with illegal immigration, everybody sneaking  in to get sucked off.

But we're AMERICANS, we can handle it!! We can RISE to the occasion, so to speak.

There is nothing that will Americanize the world so fast as Socialized Blowjobs (TM Reg).   And I've already bought the "Workers of the World Unite" motto, and we're gonna make it "workers of the world unite in 69".  It'll be a 3rd party, the Sex for Everyone Party.

yes, indeed you're an idiot.

Clinical studies show that Republicans tend to lose control of their neurological functions when exposed to repeated doses of Bushisms, like, "our enemies never stop thinking of ways to destroy America, and neither do we", and Robertson-think, like "don't be asking Jesus to stop fucking with you unless you've been torturing fairies".

Unless you have above average mental functions, you have to get away from that shit in order to recover control of your mind.   It's been documented that some people could actually believe Bushit.

If Good Ol' JackO is a member of the bar I suspect it is the kind that has bar stools and not court room benches. At least I hope so!!

it's not like there's a chance you'd know any of them.

that's not what i said JackhOle

i say eat me though, seems you liked that

While the first ammendment doesn't exactly extend to foreign dictators. I do kind of get your point. The first ammendment does extend to Columbia university however, and if they wnat to hear this lunatic speak, well so be it. Most of us are smart enough to pay little attention to his rantings, as for the rest, as long as we don't put them in power, I say they have the freedom to be as stupid as they want to be.

I do kind of wish they'd let him tour ground zero though, the only caveat would be that he tour completely unescorted, expect for family members of the victims. lmao

what ?  About half the world does....  that too worrys me.

As for touring ground zero.... unescorted?  I have very dark thoughts about that....

GaGambler1797 reads

IMHO Watching him be torn apart limb for limb doesn't seem like such a dark thought to me. Actually, I get all warm and fuzzy just thinking about it. lol

vood2584 reads

i get the sentiment, but you know it's not that funny.  everyone flies off the handle that terrorists exist, and that so many people want to kill americans, but if they said they want to kill bush for his imperialistic war the same people who think this is funny would fly off the handle.

now, whether or not you think it's an imperialistic war, or agree with it or not, you ahve to be able to recognize that a lot of people in the middle east would see it that way.  reasonably so probably.  they probably see bush as the same sort of nut as you see when you see the iranian president.  so, under you're way of thinking it's funny that they would love to see our president torn apart limb for limb, no?

GaGambler2485 reads

You don't think people in the Middle East don't say those kind of things every day? WTF Half the libs on this board have said it.

After listening to some of the hate that comes out of this pukes mouth, I'd pull the trigger myself, and this time I'm not laughing.

vood1601 reads

i know you were joking before, so i apologize somewhat for my response.

americans are just as fanatical at times as we insist terrorists are in the middle east.  we're the master that trained a lot of these dogs to bite, and when the dog bites back we're shocked and outraged.

we have aggressively inserted ourselves into their conflicts.  as such, we have to tolerate, to whatever level is reasonable their views.

obviously we have to protect the US, and if that means war so be it, nobody would advocate the US just walking away or not defending itself, but being open minded, even in the face of lunacy like we're saying today from iran's president is a necessary evil considering our voluntary entry into their wars/conflicts, etc.....

GaGambler2602 reads

If they didn't have oil, we would have left them in the stone age and let them kill each other off in the name of Allah. But the fact of the matter is they do have oil, and we are there, and they do want to kill us.

I doubt seriously that we will ever find a diplomatic solution in the middle east. the religious and ethnic hate just runs too deep. When it comes right down to it, my attitude is, I am an American, and if I have to choose between them and us, I choose us.

BTW I have no stake in the game of "My god is better than your God" I loathe all organized religions almost equally

I do not agree with Gore nor any of the Global warming hysterical loonies... but - We do need to be energy independent.  so we can "just walk away" from the middle east... it is really that simple... so. my proposal to GORE.

Forget the "cabon credits"!  they do not reduce c- emissions just shift the production stites of Carbon emissions... instead - propose legislation that would provide economic incentives for alternative energy source invention.... promote more efficient use energy through efficiency technologies... in short invest in technology - NOT shifting "stuff" around.... and Gore!  Forget making international laws.... who will enforce them?  the UN?!  Bwahahahahaha what a dolt if he thinks that the signers of kyoto have any intention of keeping to the accord....Bwahahahahahahaha!  go ahead Jackoff.... rip me a new asshole so you can be accused of releasing Methane - a highly effective green house gas... Bwahahahahaha!!!

I think you often flipflop back and forth between extremes.

The issue of reducing global warming is ultimately a matter of economics, and not something that black/white or extreme arguments helps.

Obviously, the point of carbon credits is the idea that a market will help adjust the economy.   Brokers don't make a product, but they do make the product useful.

Shifting stuff around is what markets are all about.   I sorta doubt that you're gonna get in the street and stop your neighbor's SUV tomorrow - and in fact, it may not be the polluter that your 1967 Mustang is.  See how complicated things get?  That's a good example of how reality gets its well-known liberal bias.

Same things with international laws.  Countries work out laws all the time, usually bilateral treaties, and if one party doesn't like it, they work it out or drop it.  Working it out is almost always more profitable, for the same reason that whacking off is not as popular as having a partner.  Specialization works.

NATO and the EU are a couple examples of multilateral organizations, and NAFTA is another that is working itself out - despite all the pissing, whinging & moaning.

Many of these treaties include pollution issues, and its just a matter of time until they're worked out - if we don't fucking blow ourselves up first.

AF types tend to bipolar disorders.  Because when their equipment works, it works fantastically.  You know, flies along doing loops at mach 3, blowing the shit out of a couple acres of something (we'll check to see what it was later on) but when it doesn't work, man, it's an expensive bummer, it just sits there on the runway, and you go over and ask them why they're so sad, and they say, well, this little bird flew up and broke this washer....

Bipolar, man, I'm telling you.   They're all like that.

history shows the best way to take the steam out of -isms is economics.

Franchise every-fucking-thing into whatever country!!

40 years ago, the dinks kicked us out of Saigon.  Now they are BEGGING for us to come capitalize them.

We could have rolled over in 1965 and gotten a 20 year head start.

The problem in Iraq is that we are trying to socialize rebuilding, ie, do with with American companies on the American taxpayers' dime.

If Bush would get his fucking govt contractors & goons out of the way, and let the free-enterprisers take over, it couldn't get worse, and it might get better, no?

"if Bush had made the same statement"

GWB will never be invited to speak at Columbia U. nor anyone like him.

But of course those at Columbia are so in favor of FREE speech....as long as you agree with them or at the very least you're against the current government in some way.
