The DA had not been "armed all the time".   He had sheriff department security M-F and  had been CONSIDERING arming himself

The DA wasn't killed with an assault rifle. The rifle was semi-auto, I guarantee it.

You don't need a bazooka to defend yourself against someone with a rifle. All you need is an effective self-defense weapon like a 9mm pistol.

Training to protect yourself isn't easy. Self-defense, by definition, means that you're reacting to someone else's actions. You will always be at a disadvantage because of this. This is why training with a firearm is so very, very important.
