I was actually pleasantly surprised by the outcome because several more Republicans voted to convict than I thought. Then McConnell put the cherry on top with his (albeit weasely) condemnation of your Lord and Master. Then Pelosi ripped him a new one. Then Trump put out a "victory" statement that was as funny as anything he's ever said. Even before this, Trump's approval ratings had sunk to 25%. They will now go lower. Biden's approval is around 60. All in all, it was a very good day.
I am glad it is over. Both sides look weak but Trump will carry 2 impeachments in the House forever. Can we now help people who are struggling from the devastating health and financial effects of Covid-19?
Clinton got impeached for lying about an extra-marital BBBJ. It was the typical Republican power grab we've all come to know the last 30+ years. That didn't come close to qualifying as any sort of high crime or misdemeanor. Clinton didn't threaten or endanger either our national security or democracy, unlike Trumpolini's multiple illegal violations of the Constitution which resulted in 2 impeachments. The end results may be the same, but their underlying causes are starkly different. One hundred years from now, history will laugh at the reasoning behind Clinton's impeachment; it should be laughing right now. History will be mortified at the atrociousness of the acts which led to Il Douche's impeachments.
Of course you are right. But my point about this was that it all was a sham, a "fait accompli" if you will. Republicans were never going to vote for impeachment in the Senate. The 45 Reps who voted that impeachment was unconstitutional due to Trump already being out of office was proof of that.
(paraphrasing) he thinks Trump did great harm to the country and hopes somebody else does something about it. Pelosi was so disgusted by Mitch she came down to the post-vote press conference and ripped Mitch a new one for his cowardice.
it's beautiful! he loved the sound of all those worked loose lib assholes slamming shut in terror on Jan 6 and there's not a damn thing you can do about it but your usual whining he smells fear the man is right once again acquitted twice acquitted mean INNOCENT you lost spectacularly, again

Trump was acquitted, NOT found "innocent." They are not the same thing. So says Cornell Law (and everyone else): "At the end of a criminal trial, a finding by a judge or jury that a defendant is not guilty. An acquittal signifies that a prosecutor failed to prove his or her case beyond a reasonable doubt, not that a defendant is innocent." And what we just had was NOT even a "criminal trial." If you can read English without drooling on your keyboard and want a more complex explanation try this, you maroon.
