overreacting. What is wrong with the name Eskimo Pie, a picture of Aunt Jemima, or Uncle Ben? Have done my time in "sensitivity training." Nobody has ever, even remotely implied, I am racist.
IMHO overreactions of this nature, just in their extremeness, aide in cloaking the true issue of racism, rather than doing anything substantive to overcome it.

It's like sports mascots, I can get the angst over the "Redskins" that's kind of like calling a team the "Beaners" but they go too far when they start trying to claim that the "Seminoles" is somehow racist, or the "Warriors". Calling the Warriors racist would be like calling the Vikings racist.
I think this is what happens when political correctness runs amok, and it's my biggest issue with fight actual racism. I have only ever asked for "equal rights" and that's exactly what I have now, well maybe a little less than equal since Asians are subject to reverse racism, but not enough for me to really want to whine about it. What we are going through not is NOT a quest for equality, but a demand to be treated special, and I do have an issue with "special" rights.

I remember people calling me an alarmist when I warned about political correctness run amok a few years back. Even I didn't think things would go this far, but when I asked "what's next?" when people where up in arms about the Indians, the Braves and especially the RedSkins, people, liberals mainly, told me I was crazy to think that EVERYTHING would be deemed offensive someday. Well it looks like "someday" is here, and except for ridiculing straight, white, conservative males, EVERYTHING else seems to be off limits.

Most people don't think about Eskimos at all when thinking about Eskimo Pie, they think about ice cream. Do you think about Germans when you think about German Chocolate cake?

On a separate note, if I was an Eskimo, I would have no problem being associated with ice cream. Who doesn't like ice cream (except the lactose intolerant, of course), but it beats the hell out of the alternatives. Would they rather be associated with whale blubber, skinning polar bears, or swinging for the fence with a Louisville Slugger on a seal? If it were me, I would choose ice cream.
