But why am I not surprised.  Abbott didn’t say there were 0 deaths since reopening. He crowed about there being ONE DAY recently when there were no deaths from COVID-19… the first such day in Texas in 14 months.  So that was a good thing.  But…

 
There were 34 deaths due to COVID-19 in Texas just yesterday.  Plus over 2,200 new cases.  In one day.  

 
I’m thinking those affected by those deaths and illnesses aren’t whooping it up as much as you and Abbott are.

Gov. Abbott completely opened up Texas, Biden condemned it and called it Neanderthal thinking.  Yesterday, Texas announced there have been ZERO deaths since the re-opening.  Who does that make the Neanderthal now?  Does anyone think Joe will apologize to the Gov?  It would show he's a stand-up guy, but is that too much to hope for?

Texas is the second-worst state after Cal. in total Covid cases. With success like that, Abbot should stick to getting his state's electrical grid up to snuff with the rest of the states.

I'm not sure when (or how often since) CDL copped to "poetic license" but it's certainly more than once as you've pointed out.  This is is style: throw out twisted and ill-considered bombs and then admit they're not true. Where's there's a full house and open is different then limited seating at sporting venues, say Astros, Mavericks,Spurs etc (with the exception of the Rangers). Seems to me that "Civilized" Texas is still under some sort of business restrictions where as Arab Texas is open.
So I wouldn't jump the gun so soon....Businesses still have the final say.

like Target and Costco announced this week they are ending the mask requirements in their stores for people who have been vaccinated.  They can have the final say, but when they  realize their mask requirement is losing them customers to stores that are not requiring them, they will get in line with reopening.

and ironically enough it was at an Asian Food Market which will probably require masks until the next century. lol

 
Other than that everywhere else I have been, mask wearing is completely optional. I would say that in a typical grocery store in Texas I see about a fifty fifty split between mask wearers and non mask wearers. They don't tell me to put a mask on and I don't tell them to take theirs off.  

 
It seems to be working for us, as you can see our "active cases" continue to drop, down to just barely over 80,000 currently active cases state wide as of today.

 
BTW CDL, you REALLY need to walk back that claim that Texas has had ZERO deaths since completely reopening, that was a RIDICULOUS fucking statement, something that even Willy would be ashamed of. The death rate is down EVERYWHERE, but there were still 28 deaths in Texas just yesterday alone attributed to COVID. I am amazed that none of the idiot lefties on this board didn't point this out to you.

ridiculous statement is a fair debate point, but you didn't call me a cocksucker or ballwasher like MOST of the Lefties do.  They don't know how to keep the criticisms to the IDEAS, they have to make it a personal attack.  It shows that they are insecure about their position, so instead of debating conflicting ideas, they want to condemn the person, not the message.  Some are getting better.

An actual half-mask respirator without an outlet valve that I can double up the filtration on. The use of a surgical mask for the protection of others (the actual purpose of a mask)  is 5000% idiotic and this is why. In a surgical setting, masks are changed out every two hours since they get saturated and then let pathogens through. Sooooo the whole wear the mask thing to do your part (Or my fave) any face covering with just cloth was not an effective way to stop the spread.  

Interestingly I often get told to put a mask over my respirator because they think it has an outlet valve. When I explain or show them they still insist on it because" its the rules"
