Republicans on this board and elsewhere who are not part of the religious right will have a fight on your hands for the heart and soul of your party.

It's a two party system...the God Squad has nowhere else to go than the R's.  They are shackled together.  The R's will throw them many bones, but they can take care of their other agenda as well.  What, the God Squad are going to en masse go to another party?  Yeah, right.

They can go back to not voting.  It was because the Republican Party spoke to their concerns that they finally came out to vote in a big way, and their large turnout was what pushed Bush over the top.

You are assuming, as someone who is very interested and engaged in politics, that someone who votes will always continue to vote.  But there are a whole lot of people on the religious right who cannot be counted on to turn out to vote unless they are energized by Republican politicians who speak to their concerns.

Anyway, I personally prefer the "Religious Right" to the "Pagan Left."
