First, I admit I was wrong; it wasn’t the margin I predicted.
Then again, it was huge, the largest amount of votes for a President in the history of our country! 2,892,286 more than Ronald Reagan received in 1984! 12,437,397 more than Clinton in 1992, 9,944,929 more than Clinton in 1996.
What is more important to me though is that the left has been solidly rebuked once again. The people the left calls “neo-cons” have been revealed to be in possession of the Center of American politics. The fact that the Republican Party gained in both the Senate and Congress, unseating the sitting Senate Majority Leader only further proves that in America, the left of the Democratic Party is out of touch with its own base!
Just as Reagan was elected by Democrats rebuking the leftists in their own party, so now has Bush been elected by the same “Reagan Democrats”! The only hope for the Democratic Party to regain any relevance is to dump whacko’s like Kerry, Kennedy, Leahy et. al.
Eleven states voted on gay marriage, eleven states voted to ban it! Making marriage an institution between one man and one woman is obviously NOT a conservative view; it’s a mainstream American view.
American’s voted yesterday that men like Tommie Franks and H. Norman Schwarzkopf are more trustworthy and more intelligent than Bruce Spreenstein (sp), Michael Moore and P. Diddy, and the rest of Hollywood combined.
The margin of victory proves that President Bush is not the divider; rather it is the radical left that has pulled away from Center America. It is time for the Democratic Party to have a reality check. Time to check their values with mainstream America.
Finally, it is my supreme satisfaction that my fellow Americans rejected John Kerry yesterday. It is a final vindication for all Veterans, but especially those of us who served in Vietnam.
To steal a phrase from Ronald Reagan, I feel like “IT’S MORNING IN AMERICA”, (again) and it feels damn good!
I applaud your thoughts, & statements. While some people just don't get it, they continue to view the world through their rose colored glasses & view the world as it should be, not as human reality has it. (sometimes the best way to help someone is not to help them).... the left just dosen't get that Government dosen't create jobs, the private sector does, the best thing Government can do is to stay the hell out.
Ok, enough from me, gotta go home & see how badly my house is vandilized (Bush signs in the yard & the Democrats can't take honest disagreement)..... gotta post my thoughts on that sooner or later, how much vandalism has been suffered by people in CA that dare support Bush.
Another left coaster applauding. Just for the record, I believe Tom Daschle (The great obstructionist) WAS the Senate minority leader, not majority. Personally, I was nearly as pleased to see him go as I was to see JFK go down in flames. The Dems need to seriously reconsider their positions on social as well as fiscal issues. They are totally out of touch with mainstream America. NM
"They are totally out of touch with mainstream America".?
Democrats got 50% of the vote in 2000, 48% yesterday, hardly qualifies as being out of touch w/mainstream America.....
As unlikely as Democrats are to win the Idaho's, Dakota's, Nebraska, etc., republicans are just as unlikely to win CA, NY, IL, & even PA......And 08 will come down to couple states to as this country will likely stay divided 50/50....
that 50/50 bunk. It was 51/48 providing Bush a 4 millon vote cushion! The victory was huge!
Furthermore, a shitload of those who voted for Gore in 2000 voted for Bush in 2004! Do the math. Bush was elected by Democrats who just couldn't pull the lever for a puke like Kerry! And those are the same democrats that increased the GOP's hold on the Senate and House!
Face it pal, unless the dems find a centist to be Senate Minority Leader and dump Nancy Pelosi (sp) (and I hope you don't) your party is just so, so... yesterday!
Here's a heads up, look for that move to center to be lead by Hillary Clinton! She IS smarter than the average dem, but oh, the baggage, the baggage!
The Liberals are in total denial, while the rest of us see a trend:
Presidency: 51 to 48 (and it wouldn't be that close if the Dems weren't masters at scaring/bribing the minorities into voting for them) US Senate: 55 to 44 - bye, bye Tom, go write your book and get your talking head job on CNN! House of Rep: 223 to 201 (?) Governorships: 28 to 21
The country is more conservative than Liberals want to believe. They want (demand) strong, sure defense; not some guy who fought then came back and stabbed vets in the back who promises to 'build a global consensus.' They don't want to get ass raped by high taxes so the lazy, shiftless in society can have health care. They know that Clinton had NOTHING to do with the Internet boom of the 90's and that true economic growth comes from the FREEDOM to start your own business without the boat anchor of big government shackled to your ankle. They remember from their history lessons that the country was founded by god fearing men who wanted to give everyone the right to worship - or not - and that 'In God We Trust' doesn't hurt anyone's feelings and isn't an attempt to force anyone to become a Christian. They don't want lawyers like Edwards, who made millions extorting money from doctors and hospital, lecturing them on the high cost of health care. They believe in preparing children for the real world with a strong education program, not a system run by a bloated Union that only wants to make kids 'feel good about themselves.' They don't want a party that talks about Fairness like it's a birthright and Tolerance from not allowing Ralph Nader to be part of the political process.
PS - I'm a Libertarian who votes Republican because the stoners have taken over the Libertarian party.
First, I am glad you admitted you were wrong about that 270 votes for Bush by 6:30 PST. (My prediction posted here came within 1% on the EC and 2% on the popular vote percent, BTW) But then, you try to say it was a landslide again. Which margin of victory are you referring too?
Yes, Bush attracted a lot of votes, but Kerry did, too. Just after Reagan '84 in your standings, and Reagan won by a landslide then. He had a mandate. This election was 51-48
It wasn't the margin, Bribite, but the consistency of it that's most telling about the election, and if you had made that point, I would have agreed with you. The Republicans advanced their people and agenda across the board.
Since the gloat and glow of the win is important to your evaluation, mark this day and see how this country and the world goes now. As yourself in four years if that warm light wasn't AM or PM then.
No worries getting emotionial posting a response. Ridding the Senate of a legislative colic like Daschle and replacing him with Thune would understandably make ones emotions affect the particulars of his former position. Majority or minority, he's still gone. Good riddance!
And about 1.2 percent of the population of the country. A lot of people, mind you. But a small margin.
Kerry pulled in more voters than Gore, by far. I've done the math. Some might have crossed to Bush from Gore, but that was more than made up for by more voters.
You cook your books and gloat over them a dozen different ways, but most of it is bullshit.
Yesterday, it was clearly demonstrated who really runs America. It's certainly not the people. Exit polls in OH and FL, two states which use touch screen voting machines with no paper trail, showed Kerry with a useful lead. Somehow, along the way, that got translated into a 2% win for Bush in OH and a 5% one in FL. While the OH result is marginally plausible, the FL one stinks to high heaven. Considering Kerry surged over the weekend in most national polls, a 2% Bush win, while plausible, is still close to straining credibility.
There are people much smarter and better informed than I working on stories you will see in the alternative press early next week. Also, if you'd like to wager some cash W will not serve out his second term, drop me a line. While I'm at it, if you have some spare coin, I'd highly recommend buying some Swiss francs or Euros, you may need them when the dollar goes through the floor sometime in the next 12-18 months. It lost 50% against the Euro in W's first term. The national debt currently stands at $7T.
Kerry could never get a square count, and he knows it. Which is why he chose to concede, much in the manner Al Gore did in 2000 (and why Gore probably chose not to run this year).
The liberal movement in this country is just so over. And thankfully so! All that is left is a bunch of bitter, self absorbed pseudo intellectuals and losers!
Have you noticed how the new Senator from Illinois has distanced himself from Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton? If your party has any future, its most likely getting behind a guy like Barack Obama, not the likes of Kennedy, Kerry, Pelosi and the other dinosaur liberal losers.
51% vs 48% 55 to 44 Senate +4 231 to 200 Congress +4
Cook that up and digest it Zin, that fact you see these figures as Spin gives testament to your partys extinction!
But I will point this out to you: A 51-48 win is ***NOT A LANDSLIDE.*** It is ***NOT A MANDATE.*** You predicted your guy would win by 6 percent. You predicted that African Americans were going majority Bush, not 90-10 Kerry. You predicted that he would win 270 votes by 6:30 PST. Now you're clinging to this "consolation." What happened, BoastBrite? The Republican manhood didn't have that ol' Dole Viagra? Even with all the "democrats" (independents?) who crossed from Gore to Bush, Kerry still got 5 million more than Gore.
Your side won the election free and clear, on every issue. They've been increasing their majority slowly for a decade. You won a lot of seats in the Senate-- but in the House, all of your seats won were in the illegally re-gerrymandered state of Texas. An unforgivable power grab by Republicans there, but a different subject.
So, subtracting those seats, what you have is a victory, not a landslide, not extinction for democrats or liberals. Fifty-five million liberals are going to take a long time to die out. I dare say, you will die before they do.
Your posts analyzing these stats remind me of an old SCTV comedy sketch from the '70s, when Soviet television was breaking into the SCTV broadcast. One of the "Soviet" shows was taking cutout shapes of other country's and putting them inside the borders of "Mother Russia" just to show how puny they looked. Your posts about this election have the same idiocy. Your side won. Good for you. Now manage the country!
