When one is undergoing electrical convulsive therapy ( ECT, aka "shock treatment" ) one has to be put in restraints ( including a mouth guard, to avoid biting down on the tongue ) from convulsions that could break bones, etc.
So Xiao is a bit indisposed at the moment.

My apologies to Jack Nicholson.

As for Syria, phil, terrible humanitarian nightmare carried out by barbaric dictator. I'm sure some on board will agree with you about your "Palestinian analogies".

Actually, I want to say that Syria does pain me very much.  Of the 40 or so trips I have taken outside of the US, it was one of the best trips, with the most hospitable people.

That said, Bashar sure follows Daddy's footsteps.

My question is if the situation in Syria creates thousands of refugees, for how many years will they live in camps without being taking in by their brothers?  10? 20? 60?

For those who don't know what a Madrasah is, see below. Some may see defintion below as "sanitized". Keep in mind that alcohol, according to Islamic tradition, is forbidden.

I thought Xiao was attending a Neo-Nazi meeting tonight-----perhaps I was mistaken------

I guess they bring the food out and put it on that carpet.

Hey, the guy on the left with his foot near his mouth, first in line for the buffet - is that you, Priapus?

I would hate to think that he actually had to think about something.

Maybe he is in Aleppo and has been run over by a tank.  Bummer, dude.

I imagine on your pregrinations through the Assad family playground, you're keeping your Likudist and Gush loyalties entirely to yourself.

No doubt a tu-tu wearer like yourself is quite used to keeping secrets.  But that's probably another story for an entirely different board.

I'd be happy, under the laws of our land, to let as many of them emigrate to the US as are qualified.

I'm sure they'll not be emigrating to Israel anytime soon though.  nor will will will heroes be likely to take in any as a humanitarian gesture unless Bibi becomes really, really stresssed and needs a cheap PR coup to burish his image, such as it is.

i imagine that there is a docket in the ICC for most of the Assad, as well as for bibi and company.

That is one weird reply.  What does my keeping secrets have to do with Bashir mowing down childern?

Frankly, we agree on one thing. I would have no objections to many Syrians moving here if they meet qualifiactions. As I have said, it was one of my best trips and the nicest people I have met almost anywhere.

It is just that I feel sorry for them.

And why should Israel welcome refugees when there are 50 Islamic countries with open arms.  After all, there used to be a large Jewish community in Damascas and other parts of Syria.  Gosh, Bashir's daddy done took care of that problem.

Maybe the new Syrain gove, if there is one, will provide compensation to the Syrian Jews who were bounced out.  After all, the Moslems are big on compensation for refugees.
