A massively innovative luxury automobile manufactured in the United States has trouble selling cars in Texas because the State that deplores government regulation has a very strict government regulation on how new cars are sold.

Anyone here ever hear of a guy named Preston Tucker?

...about protecting the consumer by fighting to keep the middleman (auto dealer).  And the party of less government and fewer regulations is making it difficult for Tesla to do business in all 50 states.

I think "Detroit" (for a lack of a better term) and Big oil are simply teaming (again) to crush competitive innovation; this time it's Tesla.

Eco-friendly, rated "Safest" car available, competitive performance to an internal combustion car. "Detroit" is just using oil money, politics and a myriad of business law to impede the sale of a product that NEEDS to be marketed. Political representatives high and low are having their pockets padded by the Anti-Electric Car Coalition.

Big oil had "Detroit" kill their own very healthy baby in the Saturn EV-1.  Owners LOVED THEM; but were forced after the lease was up to give em' back too be crushed! Only a handfull now survive in  automotive museums.

That is only if you want me to actually hear you over the sound of me shouting "Cha Ching" at the top of my lungs. lol

but just remember, every barrel of oil that I produce is one barrel less that we have to import from overseas. I am not the villain here, i am actually part of the solution, maybe not the long term solution but i am doing my part, can any of you say the same?

does have one positive side effect. Does anybody really give a shit with what is happening in the Middle East? Libya, Syria, Egypt, Iran, Sunnis killing Shiites, and Shiites killing Sunnis, and the "market" doesn't give a shit. I know I don't.

In the old days, oil would spike $20 in a nanosecond with even the threat of Middle East violence. Obama can incessantly talk about "the line in the sand" with respect to Syria, or the Administration vigorously denounces the violence in Egypt, but most Americans don't give a shit.

Thank God for more domestic oil GaG.

I think I remember mari mentioning that he bought some Tesla stock back when it was $50. Give it time, because he will bring it up.

I trust you are making money on ATL. I've been on a very nice run with the Dodgers. See you in the NLCS.

and sold shortly after that. Had a very small position.

There was a huge short interest and Tesla has no patented technology that the Big Three can't match if they want to compete. Plus TESla has no dealership structure and Texas will not even allow a company owned dealership in Texas.  So I thought the stock rise was a bubble. Lost about $40 bucks a share given the current price. See St. Croix you gotta buy and hold.....

I did the same with Facebook. Bought it @ $24 and change a month before earnings, then sold it @ $33.50 the day the stocked jumped on their better than expected results.

Think about Tesla logically. Their annual revenue is about $500M with a market cap of $18B, they don't make any money yet, and only the top 1% can afford their cars. I wouldn't touch it based on valuation alone. But as you mentioned, you had a small stake, and everyone should have a position in one speculative stock.

One day you will need to define your "buy and hold" philosophy.

As those shares have to be covered eventually, often right into the strength of the market. The rest of your explanation I agree with completely.

Bears make money, Bulls make money, pigs get slaughtered. You made money, don't beat yourself up on how much more you "could have" made.

So when are the three of us getting together? I am wide open for the next couple of weeks, that is unless I jump on a plane and head back south this weekend. I've made two trips to Costa Rica over the last couple of weeks, and need a change of pace. Any ideas?
