If Kamala is ahead in the polls, they are likely to repeat the Joe in the basement strategy because it worked once. However if Kamala is down in the polls they'll go for the Hail Mary pass. . But timing works against a debate because typical of history, Kamala will probably get a post convention bounce and will feel she's going to win. . I don't think we'll know if there is going to be a debate until late August.
