Some recent P&R posts about volunteerism and charitable contributions were deleted, but the wikipedia article on the Donald J. Trump Foundation lays out the many ways that the Trumps profited therefrom. There is much more in the wikipedia article than in the news articles.

For instance, Trump may have had people donate money to DJTF in lieu of paying debts directly to Trump in order to avoid taxes. (That is, if they owe Trump $100 on a deal, they are supposed to pay Trump $100 which is his income on that deal. Trump can then donate that $100 or the amount remaining after taxes to DJTF or stick it in his own pocket. Instead: debtors got a phony tax deduction for paying what they owe directly to DJTF and Trump avoided income tax on the amount paid.  What a racket!  Since no one has seen his tax records, no one knows if he declared those donated amounts as income or not. Who here thinks that Trump declared those amounts as income, as he was supposed to? .... ? .... ? Anyone?  Who wants to see Trump's tax filings disclosed in a court proceeding? ...? ...? Anyone?)
