Please help me understand

I have not posted in a day or 2, just read this board and others, listened to the news, and read alot.

I still have not seen anything that W has accomplished that he said he would 4 years ago. He also seems even more confused (or is downright lying) about the reality of the Iraq situation.

So if anyone can please help me find what I am missing that the Bush supporters (not to be confused with jock straps, although very similar) see in W, please set me straight.

Please post proof, not just empty ramblings.

"First, we would not accept a treaty that would not have been ratified, nor a treaty that I thought made sense for the country."
-- George W. Bush, regarding the Kyoto accord. in a Washington Post, interview, April 24, 2001

Kyoto would have devastated American businesses and jobs.

BTW, in case you haven't noticed, this kind of whining is losing you guys the election.  lol

Here's a novel idea, talk about the benefits of electing your candidate!  Doh, that would require some benefits now wouldn't it?

Actually, once Kerry's fingerprints are found on the CBS documents, the election is over anyway.

Have a nice evening.

How about fiscal responsibility, how about personal responsibility, how about to protect the constitution , You PNAC fucks got your " catastrophic event" along the lines of Pearl Harbor to try your world domination, your "Pax Americana" and look where it has gotten us Bob

Anybody with a quarter of a brain would have found a way to get out of the bad bits of the Kyoto deal and STILL be part of the "New World Order" that Bush 1 was on about.

If no-one actually believe those documents anyway, then why the fuss?  And dang few did.  Even though the rest of the evidence provided was damning enough.  So I think the whole episode has outlived its 15 minutes.  It does take a little wind out of the Swiftie charges, but then that's what Karl wanted.

Zieg Heil!

Read my post directly below reading "If Bush is so bad".

I know its hard for your closed mind to think this way, but there are many people in this country that believe utterly inane, senseless, mindless, illogical things like:

1) gays shouldnt be allowed to marry.
2) women shouldnt be able to kill their babies.
3) kids should pray in school.
4) having a job today is more important than having fresh air in 1,000 years.
5) its a bad time to ask working people to pay more in taxes to help poor people get health care.

I am socially liberal and DON'T agree with these platforms, but alot of people do.  And they don't surf the internet, they don't write for the NY Times, they don't make movies and wear size 56-short tuxedos to the oscars...they just vote.

I feel another rant coming.

Glad somebody can put it in to words how incredibly short sighted the US voter tends to be.  Yes, they are probably one of the dumbest groups on the planet.  Rivalled only by the Athenians before the Peloponesian wars!

With Guys like Bush and Cheney as hall monitors at the mentally challenged school...

While I don't agree with those people, I don't consider them stupid.  In fact, believe it or not, I actually know one of them.  He wears these glasses that make him look real smart and he always beats me in Yahtzee.

Seriously, one of my closest and smartest friends (Princeton undergrad, Northwestern MBA, UMichigan medical school) who happens to also be a physician, makes a very impassioned medical/religious plea against abortion and gay rights.  I disagree with him, but he's unquestionably smart (btw: he's pro legalizing prostitution and marijuana - shit, he's my friend, right?).

There are different types of ``stupid''.  For the most part I believe people throw that term around here because they don't feel their targets actually think about these issues [i.e., just go along with what they were/are told].  Not sure they mean it literally (or, do they ???).

Regarding you smart friend - does he feel homosexuality is at all a form of population control and therefore serves a ``needed medical'' purpose ?

LOL no, he has nothing against homosexuals.  He just doesn't believe in same sex unions.  He's one of the few religious guys you find in the otherwise urban yuppy world of sin I live in.

You're right about people confusing "stupid" with "uninformed" or "emotional".  The problem with the voting public isn't that they're not smart, its that they don't take the time to research and think about the issues.  They take knee jerk reactions to what they happen to see on TV.  Speech writers manipulate their vulnerable emotions. While many attribute this to rural (republican) america, i'd argue the dems are just as guilty.

It'sd why I now usually use Ignorant-more accurate.  Americans often think on their feet- just inhale bad information like air.
