According to drunken experts like Mel Gibson and our petty little pischers from Planet Stupid, Judaism is responsible for all the wars and evil in the world and is simply an archaic ancient religion.
I disagree with that notion. Dogmatic and Theistic notions aside, Judaism was the forerunner of some very modern concepts including "The Weekend", Asylum, Equality under the Law, Crop Rotation, Animal Rights, and even Public Schools.  
Its a short but eye-opening read for those who can distinguish between the dogma of "Godspeak" or "God Spell" and the wisdom of the Judaic Code of Ethics.

It's certainly true Jews have contributed to the world vastly more than their numbers but Islam has a long history of contributions are well.  Here are a few.

1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,0 maybe? :) I think there is plenty of evidence that basic math sciences like Trigonometry, Geometry let alone Algebra (from Arabic "al-jabr" meaning "reunion of broken parts")  originated in Islamic countries. Many basic sciences like Physics and Chemistry had their early breakthroughs there as well.  

But truth be told you can't compare Judaism, a religion of at least 3000 years of age with Islam of about half that much. That's by definition is not a fair comparison. It's like comparing contributions of Buddhism to the contribution of my personal newly established (but revolutionary!) religion: Nnowayhism. Not fair! :)

Btw, unlike what many prefer to think most current issues in the Middle East derive not from the traditional animosity between Jews and Muslims (there was never really much of that) but rather between Muslims and Christians, the feud that's been going on for over millennium now. After all they refer to us here as the Crusaders for a reason. Much of what's going on now has little to do with Israel but rather continuations of post-colonial turbulence with Arab world is still looking for a way to unite after being broken up by England and France under one flag, one caliph which is... yea, right.  

I venture to say that long after Israel will make peace with its neighbors (of which lately I'm beginning to feel cautiously optimistic) the issues between Europe and the countries of the New World on one side and Islam on the other will continue.

No sense expecting Muslims  to join modern civilization if they are still living in the Middle ages.

Other than cell phone detonated bombs, Islam has very little on the invention table in the modern technological era.

  Perhaps less praying, more work and study would help elevate their mind set.

we were dealing with these assholes LONG before Israel was even a glimmer

Israel is simply the most recent excuse for the barbarians

Yea, but that was a diplomatic excuse. Similar to when in movie "Casablanca" French captain who organized gambling is shocked that there is gambling is going on there. The real reason had nothing to do with religion. Barbary Pirates had no problem working out agreement with other "infidel".  Americans just refused to recognize their version of Singapore and pay for passage, that's all.  

That aside though the standoff between Muslim and Christian worlds has been going on forever and will continue long after we're gone.

Jefferson was much more intelligent than our recent leaders.  
 Jefferson  didn't yearn for losers  to submit themselves to  regime change or hope they'd convert to Christianity,
  Jefferson knew a change of his adversaries policy was a much better solution in the quest for a  long lasting Peace.  
 If a massive display of strength needs to be used to  convince  an adversary to change their policy, so be it.
   
    In his dealings with Muslims, Jefferson was primarily interested in safe transport across open seas for all ships.
  Religion was not the issue with Jefferson  
 However........  Muslim Pirates felt it was a right granted by their God, to subject our traveling ships full of infidels to their set of rules.  
  Hundreds of thousands of  Americans and Europeans were captured and enslaved in Islamic Northern  Africa between 1520  and 1780 .

 White Cargo also explains why Southerners  of all races  get along with each other, so much better than Yankees, LA or Vegas residents.
