Who needs an ignore function?

& I mean that from BOTH sides of the political spectrum, could be on ANY political board. They're usually angry & ignorant people, just trying to provoke mindless arguments from those they disagree with. They're not worth the "figurative powder" to blow up. Good option here for those who agree with me is to use the "ignore user link", fine alternative for civil debate. Regrettably, those who perpetually post under an alias don't have that link. Perhaps TER will fix that one day. In the meantime, if such an individual irks you, just ignore them. My 2 cents.

There are a couple of posters here who I don't talk "to" only 'about" They and everyone else already know who they are. There are a few more who I just skip over, and although the place would be better off without them, and actually the board is a better place whenever they cross the line and get put into "time out", but board trolls are hardly a new thing here, nor do I expect this place to ever be "troll free"

There is a very good reason you can't block an alias, if you block the alias I am sure the software would require you block the "real" fake name as well, and this would defeat the entire purpose of an alias which is to remain anonymous. It would be a very simple matter to figure out who the real poster was hiding behind the alias. If they bother you so much, is it really that difficult to simply skip over them?

ust like someone who puts up a post, let’s say, complaining about those who post under an alias. Then that poster does not like the replies because no one agrees with him, they take him to task, and put him in his place, so he removes his post thereby removing the replies that he does not like. That is one of the traits of a true coward. Truly Weak and Scared.

However, why the need for the ignore feature, it is easy enough to just not read a post.
Besides there is one poster who has proudly announced that he has put me (and others) on ignore, yet he on occasion replies to my posts, he also posts things that clearly indicate that he has read my posts

As for skipping over SOME of the aliases, some of them get pretty damned noxious & the fact that they can't be ignored, means some of them desperately WANT a provocation. This applies for ANY board. As for "skipping them", you're right & that is becoming easier as time wears on.

I often find him FOS on politics', but at least his "pilot light" is on, unlike other "dim" individuals, & he writes in proper & coherent English, which for some these days, is a major hurdle.

I have been told I am an "acquired taste"

I am sure this will not surprise you that most of my "board buds" didn't start off that way. Just ask Doc Gonzo for example. Or that pedantic putz who authored the OP. lol

I've used that function in the past, because even some subject lines were totally obnoxious. That hasn't been so much the case lately. However, you can do what I do, 99% of the time. Don't respond to them. They want attention. Don't give it to them. And, I don't, 99% of the time respond to alias's. I've noticed some new ones on her lately. I just imagine them being righties, who due to the humiliation of spouting off about predicting Romney would win, trying to sneak back unnoticed!  ;)

Can't speak for the pedantic putz but I think it was some time before Gambler and I engaged in our first civilized conversation...
neither of us have ever been accused of being shy about expressing ourselves... nowadays, it seems we're "BFF's" because after almost 15 years, we can hold a civilized discussion. And still disagree.

but there's a big difference between two people of good conscience who disagree versus trolls who only seek to stir things up with demeaning, obnoxious comments, straw man arguments, or, my personal favorite "So What You're Saying Is..."
That's what I find "hilarious"

OK then, what's YOUR name, Buckwheat?

"Laffy" is just as much an anonymous nickname as a TER users "alias"

because I spit the water I was drinking all over it when I read your last line.

If that's true, why do you cry about me 24/7 instead of just skipping over my posts?

Anyone that uses an alias is a coward.

Your naivety and "airheadedness" totally missed Doc's point once again.

Again, I hope no tall person was in line behind you when that post flew right over your head.

I have always been "Laffy" on here.

The wussies can have their "regular" screen name and then, for various reasons, use an alias to hide behind.

Like Matt said, some are probably hiding from the fact they bragged and bragged and bragged and BRAGGED Mitt was going to win in a LANDSLIDE and they vanished after he got his butt kicked and don't have the guts to use the same name again because they know they'd be mocked relentlessly.

Others probably use an alias to agree with their "regular" name to make it look like they have friends that think they are smart.....a total wuss move.

Or they don't want their "monger" name tied to their racist views so when they meet people at Meet and Greets, others don't look at them with disgust.

So, care to comment on my point that your BFF is the LAST people to tell others "If someone's posts bother you much, don't read them" considering he cries about me non-stop?
