Fear & Loathing: A Parting Shot
Since I posted my Enough is Enough rant several weeks ago, I've noticed absolutely no change whatsoever in the demeanor and tone of this forums current crop of pseudo-pundits, myself included. This forum is a mocrocosmic example of the True legacy of politics today. Politics has always been a dysfunctional bi-polar entity, but one which worked very well for two hundred years. Not anymore. now it doesn't do anything but breed fear, loathing, and contempt for all things not like you think they should be.
Look at the name of the author of a particular post, and you already know what it will say. look at the respondents, and you already know how they will have responded. the only guesswork, is the level of sleaze they will employ in their response. the obvious example would be Xiaoming and myself. Its ugly, its unproductive, and everyone knows Xiao will continue to trash all things israel, and i will trash all things xiao. there is no dialog anywhere. theres no further point to it.
There is an old joke about the fellow who keeps hitting himself in the head with a hammer. When asked why he hits himself over the head with a hammer, he responds "because it feels so good when i stop".
It's time for me to figuratively stop hitting myself over the head with a hammer. When y'all can stop hitting each other over your heads with your rhetoric, maybe I'll have something to say again. I'm tired of reading what assholes are writing, and I'm through being one of those assholes. For now, I'm outa here. Fare Well.

Most political blogs are one sided because of this fighting. People only want to hear what they feel is correct (Human Nature). Nobody thinks they are going to convert anybody. We do this because we can't reply back to the pundit or politician on TV. This is just an outlet. We get to use the tiny voice that we have. You can predict what 99% of the politicians say before they say it as well. It's not just us who are predictable.
You're burnt on this and want to leave? I can't blame you at all. But you're parting shot of calling everyone an asshole is total BS. It's an old trick to put everyone down and then say in passing "me too". This post reeked of you exercising your self-perceived superiority. You just did it in a backhanded way. I respect you Gonzo and wish you the best, but this parting shot lacked class.

I got news for you. You won all of your duels with your wannabe nemesis. The only way he can win is if you do go. Go ahead and take a break and/or post less. Or come back in 2 or 3 months. OR post on the general board as Zinmonster is doing (but on that board it's best to be brief and to the point or no-one will respond)
I think that our hobbyist bros that read but never post (in my opinion) agree with YOU as far as Israel/U.S. policy goes.
Think back to your high school and college days. How many people really liked the Sydney Bloomingthals. I rest my case.

I read Doc's departure [temporary to be sure] as implying that he will no longer post and/or respond.
I bet anything he's reading all of this to see if he's bidden as warm and fond a farewell as was zinaval. No such suerte!
My guess - Doc is back and posting furiously, with all his predictable poison, betweem Halloween and Thanksgiving.
I can't say i'm going to miss him and his abusive and insulting phoniness -- all the while sheding crocodile tears over the "lack of civility" on the Board -- but he WAS my most dedicated reader. I could have posted a "to do" list from 17 years ago and he would have parsed it ever-so-exactingly for hints of anything not 1000% supportive of Israel.
Like McArthur, he will return.

If, as you write, the majority of the hobbyists who don't post suport Doc's position on Israel/US relations, that's enough to convert ne to homosexuality.
back bituing. I liked Dr. Gonso and his tinking, but know he has gone away. The same thing with that right winger guy! Where is he know? I tink we better stick to non-contravrsal topics here. It wolud save us a lot of haertache.
