the morale in our military and enlistments are way up from where they were during the previous four years under Biden, he needs to learn that the bravado used to rally the troops and stoke them up for a fight will not always be taken that way by the Leftist partisan hacks.  Although they are attacking his verbiage, I would doubt anyone thought he was speaking literally.   It's just another one of the ongoing "gotcha's" which are all the Left has lately to counter Trump's many successes in his new administration.    Anything, no matter how trivial, to deflect from the second Schumer Shutdown in six months is the order of the day.

If Hegseth issued that as an order, it would be illegal. But political rhetoric is exempt from the “no quarter” ban per amendments to the Geneva Convention.

any military experience, much less a working knowledge of the Geneva convention, so it's not surprised that he bought into the liberal bullshit.  Furthermore, Kelly was a pilot, not an infantry officer, so maybe he would like to explain how pilots take prisoners?  They don't, they just blow them up.

Military experience has nothing to do with it.  Per the Geneva convention:

The Geneva Conventions and their Additional Protocols strictly prohibit ordering "no quarter," meaning it is illegal to order that there shall be no survivors, to threaten an adversary with no survivors, or to conduct hostilities on such terms. Wounded soldiers and civilians must be respected, protected, and given medical care.

The next time he blows up a building from his attack aircraft that contains civilians and there are no survivors.  Do you see the irony here from YOUR source?  

 
The specific rules you are speaking about are from the original Geneva Convention of 1864.  How many jet fighters were blowing up entire buildings from then air when these rules were adopted.  You have a flawed source in Senator Kelly and now you are trying to rewrite history to fix it.  The hole you find yourself in on this one keeps getting deeper.

The call to violent protests by the political left caused the death of two Americans in Minnesota when they took the rhetoric of the Lefty politicians seriously.  Interfering with law enforcement who are doing their jobs under the law is dangerous, too, and when taken to the extremes we have seen are borderline insurrectionist and/or treasonous.

Military get orders, commands, are over seen by a chain of command, can't do shit until they are told, etc.   PROTESTERS..... not so much.

Iran used machine guns for riot control and rape female prisoners so violently some now use colostomy bags or have had hysterectomies. I wouldn’t expect them to follow the Geneva Convention from the get go.

And your concerns about another massacre like My Lai are unfounded.
