which brings up a very interesting point...

So yesterday I posted on the general discussion thread that folks interested in fixing our laws against vice should consider voting for candidates that support that position.  It was a completely non-partisan post - I recommended candidates in 4 different parties (Democrat, Republican, Constitution, and Libertarian).  It is a topic that, at least theoretically, should be of interest to the entire general population of TER posters and not just to those with a strong interest in partisan politics on the P&R board.  YET, a couple of folks got vehemently bent and started spewing forth like it was the most egregious awful post ever in all of TER's history (and I've been here since Feb 2001 which I think is nearly all of it).

Why did these 2 folks feel so strongly about the issue?  Why didn't they just ignore my post?

I happen to agree with you completely .... I refrained from posting a comment yesterday because I got there too late ...all bandwidth was already taken. LOL

But I voiced a similar opinion a few months ago & got a similar tirade.

My own observation is that the shrillest voices on this board predominantly voice one view ...

who are simply profoundly unhappy and insecure people. They mask that by trying to bully everyone they can by spewing venom and invective.

Pay no attention to them. Or just go ahead and call them stupid, loudmouth, dumbasses like I do.

Apparently GND agreed with us since your post has been removed. It was not a nonpartisan post. It was plainly and blatantly political pandering on your part and had no place on the GD Board.

That said, I happen to agree with you on many level where it comes to Libertarian views. That doesn't change the fact that the post belonged here not on the GD baord.

Now that you're here, why don't you repost your views on the subject. People may or may not agree with you, but I guarantee you I won't be one of the people shouting you down.

political issues - such as the decriminalization of prostitution.... where we ALL should have a common goal (given the very self-selecting nature of this board) are they best discussed with the general population of the board, or our very select few on this sub-discussion group?

I can actually see both sides of this argument... but wonder how we are best served... and how we could best push a political agenda forward on the national level... perhaps govenor spitzer could help?

"It was not a nonpartisan post. It was plainly and blatantly political pandering on your part"

In what way was it partisan and blatant political pandering?  How can something that mentions one very narrowly focused issue of general interest to all board participants, that mentioned not one single candidate name, that mentioned that there were candidates supporting that issue in 4 different parties and only suggested that people research candidates and vote be in any way partisan?

Secondly, why such vitriol over a post possibly being on the wrong board?

why don't you repost it here? This is where it belongs.

FYI the reason your post belongs here instead of the GD board is the fact that many, if not most of the discussions here will get you moderated if not outright banned on any other TER board. Making posts of such an incindiary nature on other boards is an invitation to get yourself and others banned. Say anything you want here, just don't cry about the manner or tone with which others might disagree with you.

1 - You ignored my question.  In what way was my post on the GD board partisan as you claimed?

2 - You now claim it was incendiary.  How so?  Encouraging people to research candidates and vote is incendiary?

3 - I have no interest in posting it on this forum.  The folks on here are already aware of the issues.  Very few people on TER visit this board.  The purpose is to reach people who next Tuesday can make a difference and help send a message about freedom and liberty.
