the Columbus Day and St. Patrick's Day Parades? And I question any article that uses ellipses so liberally.
And don't you just love the longing for the good old days of turn-of-the-century immigration? Does anyone know any history in this country? Does anyone know how the Irish, the Polish, the Italians were treated? There really is nothing worse than being lectured by people who know absolutely nothing.
"You old white people. It is your duty to die."
HISPANIC LEADERS SPEAK OUT!
Augustin Cebada, Brown Berets; "Go back to Boston! Go back to Plymouth Rock, Pilgrims! Get out! We are the future. You are old and tired. Go on. We have beaten you. Leave like beaten rats. You old white people. It is your duty to die . . Through love of having children, we are going to take over.
Richard Alatorre, Los Angeles City Council. "They're afraid we're going to take over the governmental institutions and other institutions. They're right. We will take them over . . . We are here to stay."
Excelsior, the national newspaper of Mexico, "The American Southwest seems to be slowly returning to the jurisdiction of Mexico without firing a single shot."
Professor Jose Angel Gutierrez, University of Texas; "We have an aging white America. They are not making babies. They are dying. The explosion is in our population . . . I love it. They are shitting in their pants with fear. I love it."
Art Torres, Chairman of the California Democratic Party, "Remember 187--proposition to deny taxpayer funds for services to non-citizens--was the last gasp of white America in California."
Gloria Molina, Los Angeles County Supervisor, "We are politicizing every single one of these new citizens that are becoming citizens of this country . . . I gotta tell you that a lot of people are saying, "I'm going to go out there and vote because I want to pay them back."
Mario Obledo, California Coalition of Hispanic Organizations and California State Secretary of Health, Education and Welfare under Governor Jerry Brown, also awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Bill Clinton, "California is going to be a Hispanic state. Anyone who doesn't like it should leave."
Jose Pescador Osuna, Mexican Consul General , "We are practicing 'La Reconquista' in California."
Professor Fernando Guerra, Loyola Marymount University; "We need to avoid a white backlash by using codes understood by Latinos . . . "
Are these just the words of a few extremists? Consider that we could fill up many pages with such quotes. Also, consider that these are mainstream Mexican leaders.
THE U.S. VS MEXICO:
On February 15, 1998, the U.S. and Mexican soccer teams met at the Los Angeles Coliseum. The crowd was overwhelmingly pro-Mexican even though most lived in this country. They booed during the National Anthem and U.S. flags were held upside down. As the match progressed, supporters of the U.S. team were insulted, pelted with projectiles, punched and spat upon. Beer and trash were thrown at the U.S. players before and after the match. The coach of the U.S. team, Steve Sampson said, "This was the most painful experience I have ever had in this profession."
Did you know that immigrants from Mexico and other non-European countries can come to this country and get preferences in jobs, education, and government contracts? It's called affirmative action or racial privilege. The Emperor of Japan or the President of Mexico could migrate here and immediately be eligible for special rights unavailable for Americans of European descent. Recently, a vote was taken in the U.S. Congress to end this practice. It was defeated. Every single Democratic senator except Ernest Hollings voted to maintain special privileges for Hispanic, Asian and African immigrants. They were joined by thirteen Republicans. Bill Clinton and Al Gore have repeatedly stated that they believe that massive immigration from countries like Mexico is good. They have also backed special privileges for these immigrants.
Corporate America has signed on to the idea that minorities and third world immigrants should get special, privileged status. Some examples are Exxon, Texaco, Merrill Lynch, Boeing, Paine Weber, Starbucks and many more.
DID YOU KNOW?:
Did you know that Mexico regularly intercedes on the side of the defense in criminal cases involving Mexican nationals? Did you know that Mexico has NEVER extradited a Mexican national accused of murder in the U.S. in spite of agreements to do so? According to the L.A. Times, Orange County, California is home to 275 gangs with 17,000 members; 98% of which are Mexican and Asian. How's your county doing?
According to a New York Times article dated May 19, 1994, 20 years after the great influx of legal immigrants from Southeast Asia, 30% are still on welfare compared to 8% of households nationwide. A Wall Street Journal editorial dated December 5, 1994 quotes law enforcement officials as stating that Asian mobsters are the "greatest criminal challenge the country faces." Not bad for a group that is still under 5% of the population.
Is education important to you? Here are the words of a teacher who spent over 20 years in the Los Angeles School system. "Imagine teachers in classes containing 30-40 students of widely varying
attention spans and motivation, many of whom aren't fluent in English. Educators seek learning materials likely to reach the majority of students and that means fewer words and math problems and more pictures and multicultural references."
WHEN I WAS YOUNG:
When I was young, I remember hearing about the immigrants that came through Ellis Island. They wanted to learn English. They wanted to breath free. They wanted to become Americans. Now too many immigrants come here with demands. They demand to be taught in their own language. They demand special privileges--affirmative action. They demand ethnic studies that glorify their culture.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?:
Send copies of this letter to at least two other people, 100 would be even better. Help us get the word out.

You had to go back to a soccer game eight years ago, and what happened? People booed the our team, and held our icons upside down.
Boo-hoo. Play them in another soccer game and beat the hell out of them.
Hold their friggen flag upside down.
This is getting demented. Perhaps Western Anglo-America should re-assert itself and save its culture-- but in civilized ways?
like holding flags upside down, is seriously destructive.

A plane curve, especially:
A conic section whose plane is not parallel to the axis, base, or generatrix of the intersected cone.
The locus of points for which the sum of the distances from each point to two fixed points is equal.
Ellipsis.
WTF has geometry to do with arrogant exploitation of our countries otherwise liberal immigration policies and subsequent welfare liberalities via infestation by irresponsible procreation?

Ah, but did the spokesmen for THOSE groups at THAT time make statements like the kind reproduced above designed to piss off AND tofrighten the established US citizens of 1900?
They most certainly did not -- and had they done so they would have been met with a collective reaction a lot less understanding than that which prevails in our more enlighten and ethnically sensitive and culturally understanding time.
These very misguided ethnic types who make these inflamatory statements for purposes of leadership within their own groups -- they ought to be more careful. All they're going to do is bring out the very worst in the US population. I might remind you that the second Ku Klux Klan, the one which was active in the early 1920s, was as much anti-immigrant as it was anti-black.
draft riots during the Civil War? And seems to me that most ethnic groups have their Protective Assns, the micks and chinks and wops being some of the most notorious.
We wonder how much people will pay attention to history anyway. We suspect that some things, ie the desire to party, is a more or less universal constant. What may be different this time around is that we have a culture of non-profits, whereby anybody with a religio or cause need not pay taxes; so we get professional volunteers, who in this case have promoted this party, when we suspect they should probably lose their fucking grants for soliciting minors to ditch school in massive numbers...I mean, we all know school is boring, but it's only a couple more weeks, and somebody needs to learn to read and write, and maybe even learn a little critical thinking, god forbid...
Yeah, but the Draft Riots of 1863 was a more-or-less spontaneous, if deadly, event. No doubt as many native born Americans of Irish descent as did immigrant Irishmen took part in the bloody rampage. So the comparison might not be the most apt one you can make.
did say pretty strident things at the time. After all, the Irish opted by infiltrating most urban police departments and we all know what the Italians did--neither one a small feat. I assume that this all required stepping on some sensitive toes.
My point, though, was that these groups had actually been treated horribly at the time. Are you saying that they were treated this way despite not saying anything inflammatory. If that's the case, then what is your point?
Well, neither the Irish-American monopoly on urban law enforcement nor the Italian-American consolidation of orgnized crime in the US was held forth as some sort of systemic challenge to the powers-that-were at the time. The Irish looked at it as simply a benefit of an urban political machine, and God only knows what my long-ago ethnic kinsmen told themselves re their nefarious activities. And again, no mass public challenge to the authorities at the time, no demand for systemic change, etc... and no mass public following for any publicly prominent radical immigrant leadership types.
Yes, they were traeted badly, but they were the new kids on the block, so to speak, and they simply had to pay their dues.
And this just came to me -- much less mass media, much more segreagtion in housing and employment, etc.. back them. Noisome immigrant types could go about their weaseley little lives w/o impinging upon or annoying the already established groups at the time. [Which I sense might be RobbedOfMyBirthright's real complaint about them]. They had a chance to acculturate before they had to assimilate into the broader society. I don't think that condition holds as well today. There's no escaping these folks, try as you may, short of moving into a cabin in the wilds of the upper elevations of the Rockies.
Perhaps it's all a massive, society-wide case of familarity breeding contempt [on the part of the established population at least]?
that the point of issue is whether the newbies should suffer silently or not? Sort of like a hazing ritual?
I would point out that frat boys generally know that they are hazing, and know that they are not supposed to, eg, Kill_them_all, and that it's really a variation on partying.
We get the sense here that the "anti-immigrant" (for lack of a better word) group, eg the Minutemen, really don't see it that way. They really would not mind if the streets ran with blood.
Now true, a lot of these fellows are likely blowhards who've never seen blood, let alone bled themselves. But if fellows like Robbed are to be taken seriously - well, robbery has a specific legal meaning, and if I was being robbed, I wouldn't be talking about it, I'd be armed and demonstrating some fair marksmanship.
But then, I don't regard hazing as my birthright, either; and bluntly, I have less trouble talking with the mojados than the computer service reps in Mumbai. And having been married, I tend to regard communication as a personal problem...
Hmm. It would be cruel to ask anyone to suffer in silence a greivous wrong. But I don't think that's what's happening here. Oldtimers have a natural "resentmemt" [if that's the right word?] of being lectured to or hectored by newcomers. Especially when the dominant perception [if not the reality?] is that the majority of these newcomers are here by means underhanded, devious and illegal.
And to add insult to injury, they are not shy about maing demands numerous amd preposterous upon the wider body politic. Demands no other previous immigrant group ever thought of making. Let alone imagined would or could ever come to fruition.
In some previous posts you mentioned that the policies commonly known as Affirmative Action also come into play, but often don't get mentioned explicitly. How does anyone justify a illegal/undocumented from Mexico [pare ejemplo], right after shaking off the waters of the Rio Grande from his Timberlands, claiming to be part of an aggreived, put-upon, and disriminated against Hispanic minority in the US? I sure don't, and I suspect many others do not either. How do we tolerant some Haitian who washes ashore at Key West trying to claim benefits intended [rightly or wrongly] for the descendants of African-Americans held in slavery? I sure don't.
Perhaps an additional adjunct to this debate [or perhaps not] would be the qualification that NO ILLEGAL and/or his immediate ofspring would ever be eligible for consideration and inclusion in these policies, as they haven't suffered these wrongs in the US and hence are in no position to claim recompense. The US is as always screwed up in anything approximating the provision of a social safety net/welfare state, and given the loud [but perhaps not widespread] opposition to the inadequate proviosions which currently exist, a perception that a chunk of these resources is going to undeserving new arrivals ain't helping the illegal/undocumented cause.
Hazing? Interesting analogy.
do you realize that individual and corporate Americans are buying up so much of Mexico that many American businesses advertise in MX in English?
Do you know how "the great influx" of immigrants came from SE Asia? Do you remember any wars over there? Do you think they would be here, if we hadn't gone there first?
Racism, ie, focusing on the past, is the way of other, losing countries. You would be perfectly at home in many old world societies. You aren't contributing here.
move, pack your stuff and go.
I am sure that you will be much happier, and the rest of us will do just fine without you. All will be happier.
Mexico is not a friend of the US, never has been and probably never will be. The corruption of the govenment is historically well documented. The inability to change is predictable. The segmented class system that they promote encourages the enduring poverty of so many of its citizenry - and yet - you feel affection for that. We cannot change Mexico - nor would I suggest that we so do. Importing their problems into the US is a foolish initiative. Notice, it is not their educated, intelligent that come here.... it is their poor, uneducated and sometimes criminal element who choose to make the journey. And we don't even question it.
At least some of those from SE Asia and Cuba are educated, and understand what they are coming to. Please, spare us your comments - as they prove you to be a tiresome maggot who feeds on the misfortunes of others. And you do nothing to truly help those in need, only promote their below minimum wages...
Go back under your rock, I tire of you.

since you're such an illiterate, try adult school; and unable to control your emotions, try some prozac.
But try it in Cuba, because you love the socialists so much, and I'm unwilling to keep paying for your incompetence and resentment of every pathetic orange vendor...
and the rest of your comments about "poor uneducated" Mexicans vis-a-vis SE Asians and Cubans as a clear indicator that you are consistent in your abysmal ignorance.
Since you enjoy hysteria so much, why don't you become a politician? You can start your own party, or join Lyndon LaRouche.
that make you so incredible when people respond in kind.
You don't know I've EVER been to Mexico, and I've been generally negative about it.
BUT, since I have some criticisms of your Mexican bashing, eg pointing out the inconsistencies and ignorance - which you have no answer for - you come up with this sort of shit, and then pretend to be offended when you get it back.
So in the spirit of fair play, since you love Cuba so much, why don't you go join Fidel and his Reds?
Were I a really sinister guy, I would say that US indigenous types ought to allow these trends to continue. The beneficiaries of these policies will be unsuited for survival in a technologically advanced society, they will fall by the Darwinian wayside and of their own stupidity make themselves extinct. So the questions then remain [1] how long until this happens?; [2] how much damage is done to US institutions while this process works itself out?; [3] how do the generations of US indigenous types cope and survive in the meanwhile?; [4] how do US indigenous types accelerate the Darwinian outcome while protecting themselves?
Or we can, as another strategy, remain complacent about radical global climatic change. The most technologically advanced societies will be better prepared to weather the impending storm [really bad irony alert?] and the lesser breeds from the 3rd world will again fall by the wayside and presumably no longer be of a size able to mount an illegal immigrant challenge to our fruited plains. Of course, there's no guarantee we'd do much better, and if we did, we'd have this on our conscience...
until those who support the program drop out, and leave all the victims to support each other.
IOW, fuck this responsibility shit.

What you really have to watch out for is special privileges and academic studies glorifying women. Shit, half the country is women - imagine the trouble we're in when THEY get out of control...
