The earth and the moon is gravitationally locked with one another. This is what determines the rotation of the earth. Over a very, very long time the moon is slowly moving away from earth and over millions or perhaps billions of years, this will slightly slow down the speed of the earth’s rotation. By the time this is noticeable human beings will have evolved into another species.
