The Confederacy is NOT about "how this country was built," but how it was nearly torn apart.

Interesting!  How disgusting were the lynchings of innocent black men and women?  How disgusting was the enslavement of men, women, and children who were forced to work to the bone, were mistreated/beaten, poorly fed,  with absolutely nothing to show for it?  Bet you believe that too was a real testament of "how this country was built" and an example of the "American dream" in action.

How about the way families were split up or murdered, when it looked as though they may fight for the right to be free or just for the economic gain of their oppressors?  Could that have been disgusting as well?  How about those who profited both directly and indirectly from stealing the freedom of others and the fruits of black labor?  Trump would simply call that free trade, right?  Disgusting?

Every one of those confederate flags, every statue of a confederate leader/soldier, every symbol of the confederacy all represent a dark period in our nation's history.  Plain and simple, they reflect nothing more than a period of oppression, of which we should ALL be ashamed, rather than disingenuously touting them as symbols we should be proud of!

Unless of course, your PhD dissertation offers a relevant counterpoint.  But in light of the content of your post and the poor English that was used to express it, have a feeling you will be firing blanks!

Suppose we agree with you remove all confederate flags, statues and symbols. When does it stop?

One could easily argue that the Washington, Lincoln, and countless other memorials should be removed because of the ill treatment of Africans. The african slave trade was no stranger to new england colonies. Lynchings, enslavement and abysmal acts toward blacks occurred in the north as well.

In fact, the original constitutional states blacks where 3/5 equivalent to whites. Ironically, the northern colonies did not want to count blacks at all. The southerners pushed for their representation. One could say that everyone who signed the constitution is a racist. Many of which today have memorials and structures named in their memory.

Lincoln himself was no saint. Lincoln once said, "I will say then that I am not, nor ever have been, in favor of bringing about in any way the social and political equality of the white and black races". If that's not a racist statement, I don't know what is?

Should we remove all remembrance of anybody who had racist thoughts? The answer is resounding NO. It was different time period with different people and different lifestyles.

... and then go at night and shit on it!     That is all it is worth.     You want statues of heroes?     Here they are:

1. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr
2. Nelson Mandela
3. Mahatma Gandhi

Those 3 really fought and two of them gave their lives fighting for basic human rights, equality and justice.    Rest everything is just trash,

unable to tell the difference?  Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln and any number of our nation's historical figures truly had lapses where they were on the wrong side of history, yet still made major contributions to our country.

You make an entirely invalid comparison.  Confederate flags and statues of those who supported it, are in a completely different category and symbolize division, inequality, oppression, and plain evil.  There is no way these symbols should be allowed to remain any federal or state building, park, or other form of real estate.  Not to mention, their display advocates that evil and its spread.

Go fly a confederate flag outside your home, or erect a hateful symbol on your own property, that is your business.  But the typical deflection and false equivalency these bigots (and you in your post) try to draw are simply invalid.

Yellow belly weaklings stuck on fake news CNN read a lot that isn't there.

We lost over a half million  men in our Civil war yet after the war we became more United than ever.

Defeated Southern soldiers  joined their  Northern brothers  in their united quest of manifest destiny and their
adventure killing American Natives from sea to shining sea.

After the Natives were placed on their reservations good times rolled across our plains .

Look what happened to India and Pakistan after gaining independence from Britain.
Civil war, the North,  Pakistan a radical Nation known for abusing women and harboring Jihad terrorists,  the South remained India a cesspool of filth and  abused  women.

Many Indians bathe in polluted water for enlightenment and glory.
