I do wonder why he fought so much, perjured himself, changed his stories, only to resign a month later. I really thought he wouldn't come out with a crowbar.

Michael Vick displayed infinitely more integrity in his "candid" admission of guilt and contrition in his press conference yesterday than Gonzales did in his 90 second, scripted sound byte of a "It's been real, it's been nice, adios suckers".

Pretty much whenever he opened his mouth during his  Congressional testimony.

. . . testifying before Congress.

Meanwhile, he forgot things nobody in their right mind could forget.

He also committed perjury during his confirmation hearings to become Attorney General so he's made a habit of kying to Congress since even before he was AG.

Perjury is lying under oath.  I guarantee if he had committed perjury he would have been indicted.  Do you honestly think the Democrats would let a serious felony committed by Gonzalez slip by?  Martha Stewart gave false and misleading statements to the FBI and was charged with obstruction of justice and she wasn’t under oath.  As a matter of fact she didn’t even have to talk to the FBI.  Just cite one false statement he made under oath.

How about two false statements.  During his confirmation hearing Gonzales dismissed a question about wireless wiretaps as hypothetical when he knew that the administration had been engaging in the activity for more than three years.  In a Senate hearing in 2006 Gonzales said "there has not been one verified case of civil liberties abuse," when in fact six days earlier, the FBI sent Gonzales a  report that said its agents had obtained personal information that they were not entitled to have, just one of at least six violations in the previous three months that Gonzales was aware of.
