What's wrong with the McCain campaign?

I was out for most of the day, but why the heck did McCain and his surrogates crow about his great leadership in building a winning bailout coalition hours before the vote failed and stocks cratered?

Anyway you slice it, it certainly doesn't make him look like he's in control of events but that events are controlling him.

I now believe that Pelosi is both evil (and stupid) and setup the Republicans today, all for personal and party gains.

Just now watching O'Reily and John Kerry in a knock down, drag out. Kerry in a tizzy let it slip that the Dems look at this as a bail out of Bush.

You're probably right about McCain and getting more GOP votes.

I'll pass on the Pelosi comments.

But I think you can blame Pelosi all you want.  I don't see how this doesn't hurt your candidate, at least a little.

BTW, did you miss me all day?

It does hurt McCain. That was Pelosi's plan.

in late October and just before election day. This  is going to be a very tough year for any republican and that is why McCain is not going to win.

Presidential politics aside, what do you think of the bailout.

I'm not an economist but from what I've read this seemed to be the an flawed option that was best of some bad choices.  I know there's all kinds of carping on the Daily Kos criticizing the plan an actually supporting the House Republicans for putting the breaks on this thing.

Do you have an opinion?

Pelosi, Reid, and Obama, which would have the same effect. They have managed to accomplish a rather tall order. The leaders of the Democratic party have begun to rival George W on the most despised politician list.

That's quite an accomplishment in under two years, it has taken Bush/Cheney over 7 years to reach the level of hatred that people feel towards them. I wonder how much people will hate Pelosi/Reid/Obama in another 5 1/2 years?

While there is most likely an aversion to Wall Street getting rich from Wall Street, there is a growing populace (of all political stripes) that has no such aversion to themselves gaining wealth from Wall Street.

Or more appropriately put today, over 60% of American are going to be pissed at everybody when the markets tank.

I don't know who they'll vote for but the days of class warfare among those that are equity holders are diminishing.

because this is their mess.

I am a republican and i am saying that you can't blame this on the democrats. Bush is the lamest duck president i have seen in my entire life. There is a rebellion inside the republican party and the republican leadership on the hill could not deliver 12 stupid votes from their caucus as promised.

This Nov. 4th will be a nightmare for the us. McCain will lose in a landslide and quite frankly he deserves to lose because he is a bad candidate. The republicans in the house are going to be swept unless they are in majority-majority district--i.e. a secure district. So, next year, we will be looking at a Democratic W.H. and Congress and quite frankly last time they were there, they did a good job.

So i congratulate the dems right now on their massive and deserved victory.

Then hang all of the middlemen from it. Then take all of the speculators and hang them from it. Charge congress with treason and have a trial, then hang the those convicted from the gallows. Those actions should clear up all this economic bullshit.

I think this will hurt McCain, because of his mis-handling of the last week's events.

As far as blame goes, I think that there is plenty to go around.  The repubs are anti-legislation, and the dems had a pretty good hand in pushing mortgages to low income families.

I hate to pop GG's bubble, but we're stuck with Reid as long as there are Mormons.  Now, Pelosi is another matter.  She's proven to be nothing more than a partisan bitch.  The dems should hate her more than anybody, since she consistency makes every issue about politics.
