If they don't, the party is going to collapse. I've said for years now that I suspect that the party will split up into different factions. It's already starting to do that with the Tea Bagger wing and the business wing.

Meanwhile, Dems are trying to turn Texas blue. The demoographics are beginning to work in their favor. If the Dems can manage that, the GOP won't win another Presidential election for the foreseeable future.

...is Gavin Newsom. I think with the demographic shift in this country we could get a Dem from California to become President, and Newsom seems to have all the qualifications. I don't like his position on gun control, but he seems like he has higher office written all over him. Cory Booker is another guy that I see as a possibility, but probably not in 4 years. Martin O'Mally, govenor of Maryland, could be a possibility too.

Regardless, it's way too early to tell. I know a lot of Republicans have high hopes for Chris Christie, but I don't think he could do it unless he lost a lot of weight.

The reality is that the GOP is in a lot of trouble. The only reason why they have the House is because of gerrymandering. While I certainly think that some of the swing states could swing red with the right GOP candidate, the demographics are not looking good for Republicans unless they shift a whole hell of a lot of their party positions.
