He really meant to say Hermann Goering..he was a tough guy..

The religious freedom racist bigot from IA and current VP equates his Clown boss to the great former President Teddy Roosevelt !    How about Dubiya,

The Clown is not even fit to pick up shit from President Teddy Roosevelt toilet.

However, unless you are talking about someone else, along with Pence, he is from Indiana; IN, not Iowa, IA. ;)

He really meant to say Hermann Goering..he was a tough guy..

He wrote quite a lot about how the "aryan" race was superior and meant to rule the world, and presided over mass murder in the Philippines.  He also believed in eugenics, the fake science at the root of Naziism. He had his good points, too, but to overlook his bad ones is to deny history.  It's also fair to point out he was very much "of his time" and most of the political power structure believed the same things.  Wilson, for example, was one of the biggest racists ever to sit in the White House.

What's wrong with growing old.
I hope I live long enough to be grumpy and childish.
   You sure you aren't ancient?

If living is so bad in your estimation why not play in the road like the fool you are.

Re: You know a lot about TR because you're "of his time."  Gawd you're old!  (E)

Many people of the were interested in the theory of Eugenics.  It was an early science based on genetics  on the verge of the age of science.  It was of course bastardized by what was the last stages of the era of Nationalism.  Nationalism started out as simple pride of one's country and the efforts for it to be better.  Blue Danube, Grieg, Remington, Ford.  Roosevelt was entirely interested in Science and was a blatant conservationist.  He was great friends with a Black cavalry officer who was in charge of protecting Yosemite.

The letter you linked to is his interest in Eugenics as a science, not as a display of "blatant racism" as you so incorrectly assert.  I get that a lot of low level thinkers will argue that because he discusses the cultural differences amongst the human race is somehow racist, but here is the hate speech that defines racism?

Note that Hitler completely misappropriated what was then a old concept of National spirit into what would be called Nationalist exclusion - i.e. racism.  But to call Teddy, or anyone else from that era a racist, is simply wrong.

Its a bad thing to reach a conclusion and then try and argue in support of it.  That is not science or logical.

In several cases it's incomprehensible.  So I'll limit my response to "The letter you linked to."
First of all, I did not provide a link.  What I did was refer to a 2009 book by James Bradley titled "The Imperial Cruise." It contains extensive, new, and undisputed material on TR and his views.  And it totally supports my brief description above. A link to the Times review of the book is below.
But thanks for at least wanting to discuss TR in a reasonable way, as opposed to BigBuffoon.  All he could do was his usual feeble self parody.
