Check mate!!  Turns  out Osama's planning and strategy are much more thought out comprehensive than W's.  Funny how Osama is getting exactly what he wants!!
If we or Israel attacks Iran, the world is going to be engulfed in something that will make Vietnam an inner city drive by.  However we also cannot tolerate a nuke in the hands of the Mullahs.
I would have supported almost any means of overthrowing the Mullahs after 9-11, and guess what had we succeded the clear majority actually would have thrown flowers and welcomed us with open arms.  A clear majority of the Iranian public loves the US.
A democratic Iran is possible and would have done wonders in the Islamic world.
Alas, with a dumbass(that rhymes:) like W in the White House, and the neocons concerned with Eretz Israel first, we now have a huge fuck up.  7 more bombs today.  Yehhhhhhhhhh!!!
Iran will not sit idle and will strike back hard at Israel and make call for a massive flow of terrorists to go into Iraq to make Iraq even a bigger living hell for the US.
4 more years, 4 more years.  Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Bush is appointed by Jesus Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Hallelujah, praise the lord!!  4 more years!! 4 more years!!
W is strong!!!!!

EV,

By the way, let's not forget Iran will almost certainly bring the oil export from the area to a near halt in case of war/hostility.  So Europe, Japan, and China, by no means will sit this one out, and will not take the U.S. side.

Cheney & Associates' objective has been to raise the price of oil.  When the Iraq war started, spot oil price was around $20+/bbl, now it is $40+/bbl.  There was the convergence of tactics with Neocons.

Europe, Japan, and China's economic interests will not be served by this strategy, and by instability in the Middle East.

As always, you are so on target ...

Thank you for your compliment!!  This scenario is precisely extremely dangerous for exactly the reason you stated.  Oil exports could virtually come to a halt or could be reduced so drastically that global recession would sink in.
Another reason is that if the US or Israel believes that Iran is close to a nuke then neither will give a damn about oil exports, the world, or global conflicts.  The hell with that all and the one and only priority will be to remove the Mullahs, not simply bomb the nuclear reactors IMO.  Even if we only bomb the reactor, the Mullahs will respond violently against Israel and in Iraq.  Either way once the conflict starts the only option will be the complete removal of the Mullahs.
If Israel gets involved then that love the Iranian public has for the US will turn into complete hatred on the drop of a dinar.  No matter how you look at it, the picture isn't pretty at all for anyone.  With us being bogged down in Iraq, we simply do not have the means to fight someone like Iran.
