Oops, they did it again. Failed to elect a Speaker. So the House continues to be unable to do its job.
Thanks, Republicunts!
Now cue up the usual dimwits to blame Democrats for not voting for a Republicunt.

I think Jim Jordan will ultimately be Speaker. But what you’re seeing is a real contest between different wings of the Republican party. The populist wing is the future. The old business wing is a dying breed. That wing just doesn’t know it yet. Vying for control shows that in the Republican party at least Democracy is healthy. When everyone falls into line and follows orders that’s when Democracy is at risk of dying.

This is a handful of disgruntled extremists holding the rest of the caucus hostage. And let's not forget, Jordan actively conspired with Trump on the Jan. 6 failed insurrection. So this is the extreme battling the corrupt.

Parliamentary governments do this all the time. Various parties and factions experiment with building a coalition that gives them enough power for majority rule. Sometimes that process is messy. Sometimes it takes 2, 5, 10, or 20 rounds to form a coalition. It’s messy, but it’s democracy in it’s healthiest form. It maximizes the power and influence of all parties involved.

What doesn’t make sense is for AOC to follow in lock step with Nancy Pelosi. In any other country they wouldn’t be in the same political party.

He blew off a Congressional Subpoena, he has been in Congress for 16 years but hasn't passed a bill.  Among all the house, he knows the most of what happened on Jan 6 yet refused to testify.  He has no idea how to organize.  Yet he is close to being elected speaker.  Cant wait until he tried to get something thru the House that the Senate will accept.  That should be interesting.  And btw, Ken Buck today said they have a very small majority so its hard.  Well Nancy Pelosi had a smaller one from 2021-2022.  It is hard.  But the Republicans have no idea about how to deal with governing.  Jim Jordan said today they weren't elected to work with Democrats.   So sad.

Since we don't have a parliamentary government, why would he think our government would operate the same way? Perhaps we'd be better off with a parliamentary government, but since we're stuck with what we've got, why not talk about that, not what we don't have?
As for AOC, by sticking with Pelosi she helped get some very good legislation passed for Biden. She didn't get exactly what she wanted but she got enough to be satisfied. You don't like that simply because you don't like what was passed. Or you don't like it when Democrats succeed in governing.

We have a winner takes all system. And in a winner takes all system the most competitive configuration for the political parties would be to habe two of them. But what would happen if the GOP and the Dems both split into roughly equal sized parties? Would you not have various battles over the House leadership as coalitions were formed in various experimental configurations until one of majority control and stability was reached? What we’re seeing is evidence that something akin to this is taking place.

You said, “As for AOC, by sticking with Pelosi she helped get some very good legislation passed for Biden…you don't like it when Democrats succeed in governing”

That’s not the issue. I wasn’t talking about legislation or governing, but political viewpoints. Besides, I was just repeating what AOC said about herself.

Willy asked "what would happen if the GOP and the Dems both split into roughly equal sized parties?"
Earth to Willy! That's what we have RIGHT NOW in the House.
Look at the math.
The problem is the Republicunts have a bare majority and can't make it a working majority because of their own internal splits.

where none of parties have a majority on their own and two of the parties would have to negotiate a platform in order to get business done.  It's a more moderate and civil manner in which to legislate and govern.

And now it's because of the revolt of the center. Moderate Republicans who actually wish to govern are now being heard. They are the ones refusing to vote for a "legislative terrorist."
They are tired of their party being led by extremists like Jordan, Gaetz, Greene, Boebert, Gohmert and Gosar. So now they are getting death threats. Another vote is slated for later today, so we'll see what happens in this Clown-Car version of right-wing "leadership."
And why is it that four of these nuts last names start with the letter "G?"
Does Willy's real last name start with "G?"
Gosh!

To say one side are extremists and terrorists and the other are moderates. It’s that kind of rhetoric that led to a Republican member of Congress getting shot by a Bernie Sanders supporter. There is a populist wing of the GOP and a business wing. Besides the only member of Congress I can think of who supports terrorists are members of the Squad who continually spread propaganda for Hamas.

It was Republican former Speaker John Boehner who called Jim Jordan a "legislative terrorist." Is Boehner responsible for Scalise getting shot?
Oh, and stop diverting us with "the Squad." They are just quietly voting for Jeffries, an establishment Dem.
PS: Jordan just lost again, now with 25 votes against. Jeffries got 210 votes, far more than Jordan.
Jordan is toast. Will he withdraw?

The House Republicans look like they'll take the weekend off and nothing will get done.
There does not seem to be any way they can govern. Nancy Pelosi is peeing her panties.

In a closed-door meeting of Republican House members Jordan only got 86 votes to continue.
He didn't withdraw, he was rejected.
