...Trump received a call from President Erdogan of Turkey on November 9, congratulating Trump on winning the election.  Trump went out of his way to drop the name of the son-in-law of Dogan Holding owner Aydin Doğan, the builder of the Trump Towers in  Istanbul.  Aydin Doğan has stepped down and the son-in-law is now Vice Chairman and sits on the board of directors.  Trump receives millions for licensing his name for the towers.

What reason could Trump possibly have for mentioning the name of the son-in-law when he's receiving congratulations for winning the election?  Is he so stupid that he was trying to say: "Some of my best friends are Turkish."  No, he's stupid but not that stupid.  He was obviously trying to promote his business.

Now Trump's greed has backfired on him.  He knows nothing about international relations and the ruthless leaders of other countries.  According to an article published today in Newsweek, on December 1 the top representative of the Doğan company was arrested by the Turkish police on “threadbare” charges that he was involved in an attempted military coup that happened in Turkey this past summer.  The charges can be called "threadbare" but I suppose they can also be called "Trumped up."

Erdogan wants to extradite Fethullah Gulen, a 75 year old Turkish former imam living in exile in the U.S. who Erdogan blames for the attempted coup.  The U.S. has said they will not extradite Gulen.  What do you suppose the odds are that the Trump administration will accede to Erdogan's wishes and extradite Gulen?
