Trump wanted to use the COVID-19 pandemic to call off the 2020 election, Wolff book says.
"President Donald Trump suggested using the COVID-19 pandemic as an excuse not to hold the 2020 election, according to a new book. An excerpt from Michael Wolff's book "Landslide: The Final Days of the Trump Presidency" published in The Times of London on Tuesday said that Trump raised the prospect twice over the summer. The excerpt said that in July 2020, Trump had been mulling ways of managing the pandemic without angering his largely anti-mask, anti-lockdown political base.

Trump refuses to back down on suggestion of election delay

President Trump, facing cratering poll numbers and the likelihood of an embarrassing defeat in November, suggested the country should “Delay the Election” due to false fears of voter fraud [Trump's Tweet from July 30, 2020]:

How about THIS spin on Trump's suggestion:  
Delay the 2024 election until AFTER all of his court cases have been fully resolved, including appeals. The "witch hunts" will be finally over. Then, even if he is sentenced to prison or an insane asylum, he will be able to campaign without gag orders, he can campaign on ISSUES rather than court cases, deranged prosecutors, "perfect phone calls," and whether or not he lost in 2020.

Following this version of Trump's suggestion, after all of his appeals and delaying tactics, the next presidential election will probably be sometime around 2032. ... OK. Maybe 2036.
