You once again demonstrate your complete lack of intelligence.
If a worker is making "shit" wages.  Why is that?  Are they in slavery?  No.  Are they just plain unskilled?  Highly likely.  Are they stupid? Distinct possibility.
What is the fair share?   Fair implies that everyone is treated the same.  So, if a minimum wage worker pays zero taxes, why should a highly skilled worker pay more than that?
Should someone that has worked 100 hour weeks, taken no vacations, drives a crappy car because they have built a business that is finally paying off pay most of their earnings in taxes? Is that fair?
Your arguments don't hold water, never have, never will. I think you have gotten your answer to your 500 questions. You just don't like any that you have received.
Good to know you are on first name basis with Warren.
BTW  try reading something other than HuffPost.  I suggest a book. Maybe Warren will send you some.

You fuck heads believe bringing back slavery, emperors and elite land lord culture through capitalism is going to save the world. That is the epitome of stupidity. You should take your own advise and read some history instead of Faux News authors.

I will say that I'm OK with a Progressive tax system, "TO A POINT".

Now sometimes mari, you can be a mean little liberal, or is it sarcasm. Commenting on the bevy of consumer goods that the poor have is usually the domain of the well-heeled evil rich conservative, like me.

I've actually seen David Cay Johnston interviewed on Yahoo Finance. He is civil and thoughtful in his opinion. He is not obnoxious like a Howard Dean, Paul Krugman, or my current least favorite, Caroline Heldman of Occidental College.

I really don't give any credence to the slide presentation, as there is no content to support it. Shit, I can create 15 powerpoint slides making up all kinds of shit.

UCLA is out - SHIT! Howland is gone - GOOD! Duke still in - ASSHOLE. And how about Vegas in April?

If you are under 65 and are paid “shit in wages,” you do not even have to file a federal tax return at all – and owe no federal income tax at all - if you made less than $9750, subject to certain exceptions.

If “shit in wages” means you made $8,925 to $36,250, then your “marginal” tax rate in a mere 15% on your taxable income. Deductions, exemptions, and credits further protect the lower income earners from paying even this amount.

So if the question is - If the average worker is paid shit for wages, how are they supposed to pay their "fair share" in taxes? – the answer is the effective tax rate after these subtractions results in a tax which is quite reasonable considering all the services the low earners receive from the federal government. There should easily be enough money available to pay this amount.

This does not mean low earners can live the life of Riley. When I toured the projects in the District of Columbia about 15 years ago I was struck at how squalid were the living conditions. I was also struck at how almost every unit I toured had cable TV with HBO.

And even when we reach the highest marginal rate for 2013 of 39.6% for earners over $400,000, that does not mean the rich actually pay 39.6% of their income but only pay this amount on the amount over $400,000.

Every election year politicians lament the tax system. But in fact it is a marvelous system designed by geniuses for execution by idiots (to paraphrase a line from the Caine Mutiny).

The determination of the rates that apply to various income levels as a general proposition has nothing to do with left or right, except maybe at the highest level. Congress sets these rates or delegates the job to the IRS.

Warren Buffet has very little to do with this issue. He favors raising income and investment taxes on those with taxable income of over one million. Whether the gains in revenue from this kind of tax structure will increase revenue without unduly  discouraging job creation or investment – or drive the high earners to Monaco – is a matter on which experts disagree. But his views have nothing to do with “class warfare.”

The last time I had a bottle of Krug in a casino it was "free", yeah right. There was a full bottle in the fridge in the high limit area and I drank it for breakfast, next you know I had five bottles in me and had lost about fifty grand. Totally tapped out my credit line and had to call another casino to send a limo to come get me and give me more money to keep playing. I actually had to go inside and get a marker just to get a hundred bucks to be able to tip the driver. Damn I felt like shit when I woke up several hours later.

BTW this was in Mississippi, where the nearest casino was about 150 miles away.lol

First, the majority of conservatives I know have NO problem with a Progressive Tax System. The problem is the repeated and inflammatory way the left throws out "pay your fair share" when in fact the top 10% already pay 75% of Federal tax receipts. Add "it takes a village" or "shared sacrifice" to those little quips the progressives love to throw out.

Second, the majority of conservatives have absolutely NO problem providing assistance, support, help, whatever to those, who under no fault of their own, can't provide for themselves due to a physical or mental condition. I find it offensive that you would even suggest that "lots of people just don't have the intelligence". That is fucking insulting and elitist. Why don't you take a ride down into South Central LA and make that statement, preferably at 2:00AM.

Unfortunately, a lot of people make really poor life decisions, sometimes repeatedly, sorry but it ain't my problem.

Third, as marikod alluded to, most if not all those who make less than $36K for a family of 4, probably do not pay any federal income tax due to deductions and credits (earned income tax credit as an example, which is just welfare without being insulting). Again, most conservatives realize that the less fortunate pay sales, payroll and other taxes. Maybe mari was being a bit sarcastic with his comments about the number of services the poor receives in relation to their contributions.

Fourth, re health care, that's why Medicaid exists. It's designed for the poor. But get ready for Obamacare in its full force in 2014, because you have no idea the number of taxes that will impact everyone, including the MIDDLE Class. ACA is without a doubt the dumbest piece of legislation I have ever seen.

Fifth, it gets down to what roll do you want government to play in our daily lives. I'll make it real simple. The federal govt gets no more than 20% of GDP. That is actually the historical norm. We are now at 25%. You want to play that "fair share" shit, reduce govt back to its historical norm, and if we are still short, I'll ask the rich to pony up the difference. Oh by the way, Krugman, that little weasel, suggested on CNBC, he would like to see the federal govt consume 50% of the GDP. If you are looking for someone to admire, it ain't him.

Now if you, mattgina, AF, Makwa, Jeff want an egalitarian system, it ain't going to fucking happen.

What always occurs to me as I read these posts from all you liberal, progressive, socialist a-holes is the whining.  All of life's problems are caused by someone (usually anyone doing better than you) sticking it to you.
Your crappy living conditions are because you make low wages.  You make low wages because "someone"  wants to see you suffer and make money off your sweat.  You can't better yourself because the system is against you.  No one understands you.  Rich people just want you to eat dirt and shut up.
When a conservative is dissatisfied with his life ,he works to make it better.  When a liberal is dissatisfied with his life, he whines because no one is making it better for him.
This is why you want the rich to pay higher taxes. To take care of your lazy, whining ass.

They must spend all day flipping between MSNBC and talk radio. No wonder they are broke and trying to pick my pocket. Maybe if they spent a bit less time crying about their plight in life and a little more doing something about it, they might just improve their station in life?

Personally, I have a TV in my office, and I leave it on all day. I would say 40% of the time it's tuned to CNBC, 40% of the time to ESPN, and ocassionally I will turn on CNN, FOX, MSNBC et al just to see what those dumbfucks have to say. I rarely can stomach more than about ten minutes of any of them.

Now, I will agree it sucks they all have cable.  I drove by one run-down neighborhood and there was a satellite dish on every damn roof.  Pissed me off.

Or seeing a welfare mom buy groceries while talking on her $500 cell phone and paying cash for expensive vodka and cigs.

If they can afford all that, they don't need food stamps.

You get pissed off when poor people have cable, like you are paying the bill.

I much prefer April through October though, I can almost always find a baseball game on, and baseball beats the fuck out of listening to idiots flap their gums everday of the week, especially when you have money on it.

I do want to say you are absolutely right. I didn't grow up with blacks. My interaction with them was primarily in playing pick-up b-ball. That's it. Most of my friends as a child and today in fact are Mexican-Americans. Without them, I would never have known that it's OK to park my car on my lawn, or to display a huge statue of the Virgin Mary in my living room.

Do you want the $100? First, do you play basketball? Do you know how to dribble? I'm not talking about the dribble down your double chin from the Russian dressing on your pastrami. Do you have a bit of a violent streak, meaning committing a really hard foul. Read carefully, I said FOUL, not FOWL. I need you to focus on the game and not on the deli menu.

I'm really glad you are patrolling this board and acting as the self proclaimed politically correct progressive seeking out injustice.

In other words, I don't give a flying fuck what you think.

When Alexander Hamilton wrote The Report on the Subject of Manufactures in 1791, he said that we should heavily tax imports. Why? Because only the rich were buying luxury goods like expensive wines and furs from overseas. This came to be known as the American School of Economics.

Jefferson wrote that we should have a progressive property tax, and that taxes should be structured in such a way that they would be of little burden to pay. This is why he suggested that those who can most afford to pay taxes should pay most of the taxes.

Economically speaking, it is vital to our economy that we have plenty of liquidity in the market. Today, corporate capitalism allows the rich to collect and concentrate their own wealth faster than wealth is being created. Over the entire economy, this drains the market of wealth and liquidity, which results in higher unemployement rates and lower GDP growth.

Since 2007, GDP growth has averaged a pitiful 0.78%, while the top 1% has collected 90% of that growth for themselves. Back in the 60's top marginal income taxes were 70%, GDP growth was 4.4% and unemployment reached a low of 3.4%.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand that American capitalism, as it is currently structured, is good for very few people. And since everyone is forced to play by their rules and play their game, everyone else is left to suffer. When the top 1% has a monopoly on the means of production, then it means that they make the rules, and it shouldn't surprise anyone that they make the rules to favor themselves at the expense of everyone else.

Of course, trying to convince people who have the mental disease of pathological greed that their behavior is inherently harmful, not to just their fellow countrymen, but indeed the world, is an exercise in futility. The only thing the rich understand is force. That is why if we ever want to fix this economy, and make it work for We the People, then we're gonna have to get medeval on their asses. Hang a few bankers up at the NYSE and let their bodies dangle and rot there as a constant reminder that something other than their own greed should be on their minds.

You are probably a racist if you turn around to look at who is in the room before telling a racist joke.

The way to be absolutely sure that you are a racist is to tell a beaner joke in a room full of mexicans, or a nigger joke in a bar full of black people. If they are really your friends, you have nothing to worry about, if not? well...........

FWIW I grew up mainly with Chicanos as well, even had a low rider as a kid. A 64 chevy Impala, lowered all the way to the ground with the side pipes and the air chocks (sic), everything but the dingleballs and the little doggy in the window. Well Ok, I did have the dingleballs. lol

The good thing about growing up with beaners is that even at less than six foot tall, I never felt short.

The fact of the matter is, the "rich" already pay most of the taxes, not only most of the taxes, but by a huge margin.

and please make up your mind, are you going to brag about your cushy government job and the fact you do almost nothing for your money. or are you going to complain about how "the man" won't let you get ahead?

I've been broke, and I've had a few bucks at times. Never did it occur to me when I was broke that it was someone else's fault, maybe that's why I didn't stay broke?

Yes, the rich do pay most of the taxes, but that's because they've stolen everyone else's money.

Let's put it this way. Prior to the mid-70's wages kept up with productivity gains. Since then, it hasn't. If they had, than the median US household income wouldn't be 44k, but around 110k. It means that burger flippers would be getting paid $29 an hour.

This is harmful to everyone, including you, GaG. You would make more money if customers had more money to buy the products you invest in.

What's worse is that this is harmful to our economy and to the nation you served to protect. It does the United States no good when US household debt has increased some 1,101% since 1980. This is more than "complaining about the man". Thiese are the predictable results of economic policies that are harmful to the United States.
