Also worth noting: All the countries at the top of the list are basically Socialist.
I guess they haven't run out of other people's money yet.

But the majority of the countries are grouped pretty closely, with scores roughly between 6.75 and 7.0, which makes me wonder what these type of polls are really indicating. It’s hard to fully trust the results, without knowing more about the specific questions they asked to come up with these somewhat unclear scores.
.
Then I would like to know what significance did they assign to each different category in the poll, as properly weighting them all can be problematic as well.

It looks like we’re basically tied with countries like the UK, Canada, Germany, Austria, Ireland, Belgium, and a few others. I really don’t think we can really draw any solid conclusions from data that’s this vague. In other words, if the poll had asked different questions or put more emphasis on some things over others, our ranking could easily jump to fifth place or somewhere else entirely.
.
This isn’t like a simple question where you are asked by a pollster to pick which candidate of the two choices given you would vote for. Instead, this poll asks a bunch of questions and wants people to rate their answers on a scale from 0 -10. Because of that, the results can be influenced by cultural differences.
.
For example, someone in the U.S. might rate their happiness as a 5, while someone in Finland might say 7, even if both feel pretty much the same inside. So comparing scores across countries, and cultures, and making judgments based on them is a virtual impossibility, imo.

I'd like to read the original article (or the reports on which the article is based).
.
Also, are those Appearance scores or Performance scores? Can I just PM the reviewers to ask for more detailed Juicy Details? (Thank goodness there isn't an overabundance of "Once in a lifetime.")

Exactly...

Lots of outliers are possibly not factored into it.

USA is typically an "unhealthy" country.  Where others are not.  So does that factor into it.   Or the activity level of participants?  Like you mentioned just cultural attitudes as well.  Same goes for family status/arrangements/attitudes.

I mean someone polled in the US might think that their lives suck because that day internet was down and they couldn't play call of duty.   Where someone in another country would need to not eat for a week to have that same score.

Yes, these are cold places, but that means people spend more time indoors than in more temperate climes.  That's more time to have sex, so why wouldn't everyone be happier there?  It makes perfect sense to me.

and using a lot of cherry picked "facts".  The underlying message being unions are the cure to all evils.
